The new year celebrations are over, and Christmas is long gone. It’s that time when the question on everyone’s mind seems to be: “Now what?”.
It’s an odd time of year, that’s for sure.

We’re right in the middle of winter, there are no cute holidays to distract us, and it seems like the only thing we have to look forward to is summer, which isn’t going to be here anytime soon.
So if you’ve been feeling crappy lately, you’re not the only one.
This time of year is so depressing that one company even attempted to prove it pseudo-scientifically.
They found that the 3rd Monday of January (Monday, Jan. 16) is the most depressing day of the year, which is why it has been dubbed: Blue Monday
So what’s so depressing about this day?
Well right off the bat, it’s a Monday, so that automatically makes it a little shittier. Plus our Vitamin D levels are at an all time low, many people are still broke from the holidays, and we’re about half way between Valentine’s Day and the day you’re most likely to be dumped (December 11th).
But the real formula for calculating this day comes from a man named Cliff Arnall who is life coach and a “happiness consultant”, whatever that means.
Arnall also takes into account debt, lack of motivation, the amount of time that has passed since Christmas, and the fact that people have usually given up on their new years resolutions by now.
It may have started as a PR stunt, but people seem to have embarrassed blue Monday.
The best way to survive Blue Monday is to stay distracted, and to not think about it too much.
