It finally feels like summer! The sun has made its debut from behind the clouds and has given the city new life. And what is the activity that screams summer time? Swimming, of course! Montreal is full of public pools where you can lounge, play and breast stroke all your troubles away. And since we want you to make the most of your time, we've compiled a list of the best places to go swimming in the city. Enjoy!
1. John F Kennedy Outdoor Public Pool
John F. Kennedy is the kind of pool that you remember visiting as a kid. Clear water, lots of pool toys and a bunch of people having some good ol' wholesome fun. I'm of the belief that once you enter a swimming pool you forfeit all adult responsibilities and can act like a seven year old. John F. Kennedy pool is the perfect place to do just that! The prices are cheap and it's open all summer long, including holidays and weekdays.
3. Piscene Wilfred Laurier
Piscine Wilfred Laurier is a pool to bring the masses to. There is always a welcoming vibe and lots of fun to be had. It's nice to go to pool where you can feel free to be silly without any judgement. Everyone is having too much of a good time to be preoccupied with other people's business. Wilfred Laurier is opening up TODAY at 2PM, so grab your friends and your pool noodles and head on down!
4. Piscine Joseph Pare
If you want to swim but don't have the funds to go to any of the previously mentioned locations, have no fear. Piscine Joseph Pare is here to lift your spirits with their free entry! This pool is classic in every sense of the word. It's a no fuss place where you can do all the swimming related activities you desire. They open for the regular season this Saturday but they have pre-opening events today and tomorrow from 1 - 6.
5. Piscine Schubert
If you're more interested in learning how to swim, rather than diving right into poolside activities, then I suggest hitting up Piscine Schubert. Their whole business is teaching others the logistics of the water. Whether you're old or young, they welcome all. Their new schedule and rates are up for the summer of 2015, so give them a call if something suits your fancy.
6. Piscine Fullum
There is no doubt in my mind that Piscine Fullum is a mecca of relaxation. The poolside is riddled with happy sunbathers and people casually wading in the shallow end. They open today and are up and running until the end of August. It's a $5 entry fee, but if you go before Saturday it's free!
7. Kent Park Swimming Pool
Finally, we have a pool for all you NDGers out there! Kent Park Swimming Pool has a splash pad to end all splash pads. Yeah they're for kids but whatever, it looks like so much fun, and it's a surefire way to cool you off. The pool itself is absolutely lovely and not to mention FREE! They open this week and their hours for the summer are 11:30-7, so you have plenty of time to get your swim on.
