
Jessica Ledwich has created a photo series exploring everyday beauty rituals for women.
This project, entitled 'The Fanciful, Monstrous Feminine' explores these rituals from a morbid, feminist perspective.
The images are pretty gruesome - from an image of a woman 'buffering' her legs to an image of body parts for sale - but they do raise an interesting point. Ledwich wants to shed light on the fact that, throughout much of our history, we have defined a woman's body based on sexuality and its "threatening" characteristics.
