10 Foods To Eat That Will Help You Lose Weight

Get your summer body on fleek.

Let's be honest - if there's one thing we all wish we were born with - it's a metabolism that burns the calories faster than we absorb them.

To have the ability to consume whatever we want, whenever we want, without it attacking our hips in the morning. Well unfortunately for you (and most of us) that's not the case.

BUT, lucky for you - I've got expert advice from Anthony Borsellino, Naturopathic doctor, who has agreed to share his secrets with our audience.

Turns out, if you just cut out some food elements and replace them with other healthier choices in your daily calorie intake, you might be able to save a couple pounds and still enjoy all the chocolate you want...

It's easier than you think.

1. Don't use sugar, use cinnamon.

Replacing your three tablespoons of sugar with one-two tablespoons of cinnamon can go a long way. Cinnamon can lower blood sugar levels, reduce heart disease risk factors, and has a plethora of other impressive health benefits. As we know, sugar in any form, is poisonous for your body. If you start getting used to replacing sugar with cinnamon in your coffee - you'll notice a significant difference in just a couple days! (Make sure to get Ceylon cinnamon, or stick to small doses if you're using the Cassia variety). Then slowly but surely, you can cut out all sweets naturally.

2. Don't eat egg yolks, eat egg whites.

Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of nutrients in egg yolks, and some of the fat contained in egg yolks are actually good for you - but if you consume too many in your daily intake, you're better off sticking to egg whites. Egg yolks will increase your cholesterol level (while the recommended dosage is around 300 mg a day).

 3. Get rid of all grains, except multi-grains.

By grains I mean any type of useless fillers that are oh-so tempting. The hot bread that comes to the table first at the restaurant, or the rice on the side of your meal, or pasta. Yes, all grains, all making you fatter one piece at a time. Most grains are high in carbohydrates and sugar, especially if processed. Grains also contain the protein gluten which is harder to digest. People don't realize just how bad these fillers are for you until they cut it out completely from their diet - noticing a difference in their bodies in just a few days!

4. Drink warm lemon water after every meal

This is the REAL key. It'll help you digest better as lemons contain pectin fibre which is very beneficial for colon health and also serves as a powerful antibacterial. Adding the warm water will make your stomach settle more easily, and helps flush out the toxins in your body.

5. Replace red meat, with fish or chicken.

PROTEIN! The body is made up of 800+ muscles, including organs, tissues and cells which need protein to stay healthy and strong. Therefore make sure to consume 1.4-1.6 grams of protein per kilogram body weight to keep a lean and fit body. It's better to stick to fish such as salmon or tuna, instead of beef or pork - simply because processed meat is not as fresh and can increase your chances of getting cancer.

6. Replace fried anything, with green everything.

STAY AWAY from white potatoes (or more recognized fried as french fries) and replace that portion with GREENS. Kale, Broccoli, Peas should be your only side chicks. Needless to say, greens help detox the body. From experience, not many people consume enough vegetables, let alone those coming from greens. If one cannot consume enough greens while they eat, then t's crucial to get those portions by making a shake and adding some green vegetables in it.

7. Drink a sh!t ton of water

Preferably around 2 litres a day. The body is made up of 80-90% water in which the body loses approximately 1L/hr. Most research suggests to drink 8 oz/hr which is only 0.24L/hr. For optimal results, research has shown to drink between 450-800mL/hr depending on your weight. The heavier you are the more you need to drink. Especially when exercising. If you are one who does not like to drink water, add some lemon/lime, mint, cucumber or some berries to change the taste of the water and get the antioxidants from these food sources. Stay hydrated!

8. Replace Canola with Coconut oil

9. Don't drink milk, instead use almond milk

Dairy is not as good as we think it is. It is said that the only milk we should drink should come from another human (hence the mother while breastfeeding) and that we are not meant to drink another animal's milk. Which explains why so many people are lactose intolerant. Try to replace your daily intake of dairy products with coconut or almond milk, which have natural nutrients with higher benefits.

10. Add Oregano and spices in your food

Fat goes beyond just what you see around the stomach and love handles. It is also that visceral fat under the skin, also known as cellulite, which is more common on a woman's body around the legs and buttocks areas. If you want to decrease weight, it's importance to get rid of excess fat foremost. Adding some spices and herbs in your diet can help stimulate your metabolism much more to burn the fast more easily. Herbs to consider are Cayenne Pepper (boost metabolism), Curcuma, (inflammation), Dandelion and oregano for both detox and stress relievers. These herbs can be used as spices or also taken as a tincture.
