10 Guaranteed Excuses To Get You Out Of Work

You know the kind of mornings when you wake up hungover and hate everything? Getting out of bed seems like the worst nightmare of all time... that's when you HAVE to call in sick to work and spend the day watching Netflix. Especially on days like today when it starts to get cold outside, staying in would take your happiness to the next level. I'm crying a little bit on the inside as I'm writing this, because I'm actually hungover as fvck right now. I was seriously considering not showing up to work, but I couldn't do it... because I love this job. Anyway, here are 10 best excuses to get out of work right now.

1. Some type of emergency

You can literally text your boss something like, "I'm sorry, I can't come in to work today, I have an emergency." Then you don't text back the whole day, because you're too busy taking care of your "emergency" situation. The next day, when you come in to work and they ask you what happened, you say, "I don't want to talk about it..." Boom!

2. Something family related

Anyone can relate to family issues or problems, even your boss. Tell them you need to see your mother today. She's been going through a tough time in her life and needs you right now more than ever. You don't even have to explain what exactly your mom is going through.

3. Taking your pet to the vet

Even if you don't have a pet, you can be like, "You didn't know I had a dog? Yeah, my dog's seven years old and he's really sick, I'm taking him to the vet right now. I'm not sure how long it's going to take." Done.

4. Doctor's appointment

You totally forgot you had a doctor's appointment today. The only problem with this excuse is, if your boss is a real prick, you might have to bring a doctor's note.

5. Furniture delivery

You know how furniture delivery services are... They never give you a specific time when you need to be home. Instead, you have to stay in all day expecting to hear them knock at your door any minute.

6. Car broke down

Oh, no! You were on your way to work when a terrible thing happened - your car broke down. Now you're waiting for a tow truck and it's taking them forever. Sorry, boss.

7. Burnout

You've been working way too much lately and feeling really depressed. If you can call your boss and actually cry on the phone, that would be ideal. Plus, the next day when you come in to work, they will be really nice to you too.

8. Feeling sick

That's a classic. Just say you have a tummy ache or something. This always works. Your boss obviously knows you're lying, but he's somewhat cool with it because he can't really force you to come to work.

9. Imaginary cousin is giving birth

Today is one of the happiest days of your life because your imaginary cousin is giving birth. You've spent the whole night at the hospital and she's still in labor. Your whole family is waiting for the miracle to happen. You obviously can't come in to work, because this is way more important.

10. Boyfriend/girlfriend broke up with you

Break ups are always hard. Even if you don't have a boyfriend/girlfriend, you can say that the person you were seeing broke up with you and you feel like your life is over now.
