10 Halloween Drinks You Need At Your Next Party

Question - how do you impress your friends on Halloween? Cool costumes? Makeup that's on fleek? A spooky haunted house? Well, yeah, probably. But nothing impresses people more than awesome drinks. And with bloody cocktails, brain shots, and glow-in-the-dark Jell-O, I think it's safe to say that Halloween is the season of awesome drinks. 1. Blacklight Jello Shots
Awesome for illuminating your face in an eerie glow as you take a shot. Also a great way to find your friends if your Halloween party theme is "blacklight haunted house."
- 1 box Lime Jell-O
- 1 1/2 cup Tonic Water
- 1 1/2 cup gin
- In a bowl, add boiling water and Jell-O. Mix until dissolved.
- Add vodka and stir.
- Slowly add in tonic water and stir.
- Pour into shot glasses.
- Place in fridge, let chill until set.
2. Jack-O-Lantern Jell-O Shots
In the original recipe, these aren't technically shots. But since we're all adults here, this slightly modified recipe takes these adorable pumpkin wannabes to the next level. Enjoy responsibly so not to turn yourself into a #PukingPumpkin.
- 4 oranges, large
- 1 package orange flavoured Jell-O
- 1 cup vodka
- Cut one slice from end of orange.
- Carefully scrape out orange flesh.
- Fill a bowl with boiling water. Add Jell-O.
- Stir vigorously until dissolved. Add in vodka.
- Pour into empty orange skins. Refrigerate for 4 hours or until Jell-O is set.
- With a sharp knife, carve oranges Jack-O-Lantern style.

3. Bloody Ice Cube Shots
Ever wondered what it's like to drink blood? Hopefully your answer to that question was no. But when you get offered one of these bloody shots, your answer should absolutely be yes. Don't worry, friends. No actual blood was used in the making of these shots.
- 1 lime
- Mint leaves, crushed
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1/2 cup pomegranate juice
- 1/2 cup chilled vodka
- Shot mold for the ice cubes
- Fill mold with water. Place in freezer. Remove when frozen; remove ice cubes from mold.
- Mix lime, mint, sugar, pomegranate juice and vodka in a chilled cocktail shaker.
- Shake and pour into ice cubes.
- Serve ASAP so they don't melt. Enjoy.
4. Vampire Cocktails
In order to make these, you might need a fake plastic Halloween syringe (you can check for them at any Halloween store). But I found that spooning in the "blood" gives a similar effect. It's not as spooky... but it'll still give you the creeps. Which is the exact desired effect for a Halloween drink. Winning? Winning.
- 2 cups raspberries
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 4 oz vodka
- 2 oz amaretto
- 2 oz orange juice
- 6 oz club soda
- Optional: fake syringes
- Puree the raspberries, making sure to eliminate the seeds as best as possible.
- Mix puree with sugar; cook over high heat until thick. Chill before use. If using syringes, place mixture inside.
- Mix vodka and amaretto in a cocktail shaker with ice. Stir in orange juice and club soda.
- If using syringes, place into glass.
- If not, carefully spoon in raspberry mixture and gently stir.

5. Zombie Brain Shots
Is this the Halloween Jell-O shot to end all Halloween Jell-O shots? I'll let you decide that for yourself. All I know is that if zombies feasted on this instead of actual brains, a zombie apocalypse would sound a lot less terrifying. Zombie conga lines, anyone?
- 1/2 water
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 2 1/2 packs of plain Jell-O
- 1/4 sugar
- 1/4 cup Irish cream liqueur
- 1 cup vodka

6. Caramel Apple Shots
Do you remember those Caramel Apple Tootsie Rolls you'd get whenever you went trick-or-treating? Yeah. This is kind of like that, except with alcohol. So better. Make them now, thank me later.
- 3 large applies
- 1 lemon
- 2 cups of caramel squares
- 2 tablespoons of corn syrup
- 1/2 cup vodka
- Cut apples in half; carefully scoop out insides.
- Squeeze juice from lemon onto apples to prevent browning.
- Melt caramel squares over low heat. Add in corn syrup.
- Remove from heat. Let chill, then add in vodka.
- Wipe excess lemon juice from apples and pour in the caramel mixture.
- Chill until set. Cut into slices.

7. Eyeball Cocktail
Imagine yourself scooping a literal eyeball from a Jell-O shot. Sounds like some Halloween fun to you? Because that sounds like some Halloween fun to me. For added effect, use cherry Jell-O. You know. To simulate blood.
- 2 cups chilled white grape juice
- 2 envelopes plain Jell-O
- 1 cup 7-Up
- Candy eyeballs
- In a bowl, whisk grape juice and Jell-O. Allow it to sit for 10 minutes, then microwave for 20 seconds.
- Mix together the rest of grape juice and 7-Up. Whisk in Jell-O mixture.
- Pour mixture into shot glasses. Let chill for about 30 minutes.
- When semi-set, press in candy eyeballs.
- Put back into fridge. Chill until completely set.
8. Raspberry Brain Shots
Halloween just isn't Halloween without the quintessential brain hemorrhage shot. In the spirit of Halloween, this recipe adds a sweet twist to the classic. Yum? Yum.
- 1 1/4 oz. raspberry flavoured vodka
- 1/8 oz lime juice
- 3/4 oz Bailey's Irish Cream
- Grenadine for garnish
- Add vodka and lime juice in a shaker. Shake.
- Add into shot glass. Carefully add a few drops of Bailey's. The Bailey's should curdle.
- Dip a straw into the glass, and carefully drag strands of Bailey's upwards.

- 1 oz Amaretto
- 1/2 oz orange liqueur
