Big In Japan-Bar

Montreal’s speakeasy inspired bar is located on the corner of St-Laurent and Rachel between a restaurant and a store. Recognizable only by its big red door, the fact that it is difficult to find is part of the charm. Discover candle lighting over a long wooden bar, a large hanging whiskey rack and the variety of delicious drinks they have to offer – also available by the punch bowl.
Pullman

Situated next to the Quartier des Spectacles, Pullman is one of Montreal’s best known wine bars. Built in a three-story townhouse, this will turn up the sophistication level of your night out. Be sure to take notice of the gorgeous wine glass chandelier!

Burgundy Lion is a six year old all things English pub on Notre Dame, an area growing in popularity with Montreal foodies. They have one of the largest whiskey collections in Quebec of which you can sample with their tasting set, including three different glasses of selected whiskey. It`s a great place to do a birthday dinner and then let the party carry over to the bar.
Santos

Word on the streets is that Santos is becoming the perfect spot for a girl’s night out, especially since every Tuesday, this Spanish tapas bar dedicates one night per week to all the ladies. However, its chic ambiance is still right for the weekenders.
Le Lab

This is the best kind of chemistry there is out there. Le Lab mixes its own homemade syrups and liquors to create their specialized cocktails. While it may be on the pricier side, you’ll at least get a drink and a show. The bartenders add more than just a savoir-faire to their mixing. Juggling skills will be sure to entertain your party.
Sparrow

Located on the Main between St. Viateur and Fairmount, this cozy hipster hangout serves all kinds of finger foods, a list of typical and specialty cocktails, as well as a variety of beers. You’ll want to get there around 10 or 11, the place is jam packed after midnight! Side note: their brunch scene is apparently the talk of the town and the owners have done well enough to have opened a full restaurant located a block away from the restaurant called Lawrence.
Dominion Square Tavern

The old timey décor and music harkens back to a different era, a great place to go with friends and have a conversation over drinks. The restaurant has many original elements that date back to its opening during the Roaring 20′s. The mixes can get pricey, but it`s worth checking out if only just for one. Luckily it’s centrally located so you can bar hop to cheaper places nearby.
Flyjin

This Japanese resto bar is a great place to start your night out. Located in Old Montreal on St-Pierre, it has a speakeasy type vibe and the décor will really enhance your overall experience. Their drinks run the gamut, but their bitter/sour options like the Zen Buddha are particularly popular. Side note: this is also a great place to dine before you hit up some cocktails at their hip bar!
La Distillerie

This is a quintessential drinking location in Montreal, especially if you like the idea of drinking from large mason jars. Better go early because this place fills up fast, in all 3 of their locations! Their drinks feature both classic and modern flavors. Every menu explains how strong and or sweet your drink will be.
Baldwin

This bar has a pretty cool retro vibe and its drug store décor pays homage to the owner’s grandparent’s pharmacy that they use to run (called Baldwins). The waiters wear old fashioned aprons over white shirts and vests with the sleeves rolled up. Their menu showcases mostly old fashioned cocktails. This is a chic place to hit up for a date night.
