10 Montreal Things To Do With Your Significant Other During Fall 2015

Skip the netflix date and try some of these!
10 Montreal Things To Do With Your Significant Other During Fall 2015

Let's face it, dates can get boring and repetitive, especially in the colder months. Nothing wrong with cuddling and marathoning How I Met Your Mother but hopefully this list gives you some fresh ideas on how to spend the next few chilly months with your significant other.

Whether you live on the West Island or somewhere downtown, any of these dates are doable so go try them out!

1. La Ronde's Fright Fest

Every year for the past fourteen years, La Ronde has been putting on Fright Fest! If a good scare is what you're looking for this Halloween, check out La Ronde between October 3rd and November 1st to visit the scare zones and walk through a bloody and gory version of the theme park you thought you knew. But be careful if you decide to stay after dark!

2. Make A Bonfire

Okay, so not too different from having a netflix night, but in the spirit of fall a bonfire is more fun and cozy! Get out some blankets and make some smores. Sitting by a warm fire on a quiet and starry night is the perfect chance to chill out and just talk to the person you're into.

3. Try Geo-Caching

Never heard of geo-caching? Think of it as the world's largest treasure hunt ever made. Check out our article for more imformation. It's as easy as typing in your postal code and immediately you'll have a ton of possible adventures and surprises awaiting you and your date. Some hunts are easy pickings while others aren't given up so easily! One of the only rules? Replace your new found treasure with something of yours for the next hunter to find.

4. Visit A Farm

From personal experience, I can definitely say that visiting a local farm and going apple or berry picking is such a fun date! Every farm is different but can we all agree that they make the best baked goods? With Halloween coming up, some even offer haunted houses, corn mazes and hayrides at night. Nothing beats a fun day apple picking and leaving with homemade apple juice and to-die-for pumpkin pie.

5. The Chinese Lanterns Festival

Since early September, Montreal's Botanical Garden's has been illuminating their Japanese and Chinese gardens every single night at dawn. The already gorgeous scenes are transformed and take inspiration from different oriental themes that are picturesque and celebrate the motherlands Moon Festival. Since this show is put on every night, it's not a difficult date to plan because any day is a good day to go on. So go share some beautiful sights with someone!

6. Carve Some Pumpkins

As child-like as pumpkin carving may seem...carving a pumpkin is NOT easy! In fact, it's kind of a lot of work! Luckily, the whole process is pretty fun and even makes for a fun date! From choosing the perfect pumpkin, to heading back home and working together to cut it open and pick a cute - or terrifying - design, carving pumpkins can turn into a nice and long date that lets you show your creative side. Maybe make a little contest out of it! Or test your team work?

7. Go On A Picnic

Picnics aren't just dates for the hot Summer days! Think colorful park with all of it's changing leaves and that crisp fall scent, a thermos of cider and a tasty treat like apple pie...Going on a picnic date during the fall doesn't include great food- it's the perfect excuse to bring one blanket and get cozy! Scope out a nice view atop Mont Royal or maybe somewhere in Verdun?

8. Festival De Nouveau Cinema

Celebrating 44 years, Festival De Nouveau Cinema is great if you both have an interest in film! For 11 days straight, the festival promoting new and creative cinema made both locally and abroad, will be held in over ten different locations around Montreal and tons of movies and other related activities to attend. Check out official website on September 29th to get a glimpse of the lineup!

9. Visit A Haunted House

Real or fake, both can be equally terrifying if you find the right haunted place! Many farms, amusement parks and other public places offer a good scare around Halloween that usually you just end up stumbling upon. But if you're looking for something with a little more story - and possibly even truth? - behind it, why not book a tour with Fantomes Montreal, a legitimate ghost tour around haunted areas in the city! Starting at 14.50$, tickets are too pricey either!

 10. Enchanted Forest Walk At Parc De La Gorge

If a romantic and magical walk is the route you wanna take, look no further! It might be a bit of a drive, but Foresta Lumina at Parc de la Gorge is the perfect date to go on this fall. Get ready to show your childlike side because it's hard not to fall deep into the fairytales surrounding this enchanted forest. The best part, as the website says, is that you have no idea what to expect!
