Meet the man behind Beachclub.
10 Questions With Olivier Primeau: Quebec's Next Guy Laliberté

If you haven't heard of Quebec's king of parties this summer, Olivier Primeau, you've been living under a rock. Olivier along with his brother Julien are the new young and ambitious owners of the legendary Beachclub in Pointe-Calumet. Now that they've wrapped up a successful season, I thought it would be great to have a little chat and see what's next for Beachclub.

Olivier likes to be perceived as the "next Guy Laliberté". Too confident? More like quite realistic. As a visionary, he wants to take a spin on a traditional business approach and elevate Quebec's Beachclub to an international level. Just like Cirque Du Soleil is known all around the world, Olivier envisions Beachclub's future potential as grand and as bright.

1. How did you change/what have you learned ever since you became the owner of Beachclub?

I would say that the biggest change in my life has to do with being recognized in streets of Montreal by customers on a regular basis. I grew up in a small town on the south shore called St-Martine. A lot of people in St-Martine knew of us as “The Primeau Family” because they did their groceries at our IGA. But it was nothing close to what I experience on a daily basis now. Usually when someone stops me they say something along the lines of “Hey Oli! I follow you on Instagram/Snapchat. Can we take a selfie together?”.

2. How are you keeping busy during winter? What have you been up to?

I’ve been keeping busy with the team. We’ve been working on booking our DJs for summer 2016, we put our season passes on sale, and we launched our online shop www.beachdayeveryday.co

I’ve also been working hard on my personal brand. I’ve been blogging, making videos, and planning photoshoots in order to have content to share on my social media channels. Last weekend I spoke at conference for the first time which was really fun.

3. What’s the best memory you have from summer 2015?

1- When Hardwell said “This is the best outdoor venue in the world!”

2- When Dan Bilzerian dove out of the helicopter into the lake from 40 feet in the air.

4. Where do you see yourself in 10 years from now?

I’m an entrepreneur so it’s hard to say where my projects will take me over the next 10 years. But one thing is for sure… I want to take Beachclub to the next level. I see the potential for Beachclub to become an international brand with multiple locations around the world.

5. Do you ever actually get to party at Beachclub or it’s more work than fun?

I get the business done during the week. And on the weekend (during events) I’m out in the field talking with customers, having drinks, and basically making sure everyone is having a good time. So it’s a combination of fun and work.

6. Is there a sense of competition between your brother and yourself? Does he ever get bothered because you’re getting so much media attention?

There is no friction between my brother and I with regards to the attention I get in the media. We both have completely different responsibilities. I am responsible for the pr and the marketing. My brother handles logistics. We obviously get into small disagreement once in a while but it’s normal… Who doesn’t have disagreements with their siblings?

7. Are there any future projects you’d like to share with us?

I am working on a few secret projects at the moment. I can’t talk about it yet. But when they are ready to be unveiled I will make a post on my blog and on Facebook/Snapchat. So make sure to follow me if you want to get the news first.

8. Who was your favorite Beachclub guest in ’15 season and why?

Tiesto was my favourite guest last summer. I’ve been listening to him since I was 15 years old. He is the Wayne Gretzky of DJs. It was a very sentimental day for me. After his set he told me “I am very impressed with what you’ve done here. I will for sure be back soon!”

9. What should we expect from Beachclub in summer 2016?

A crazy line up // the best summer of your life.

10. What’s the #1 advice you’d like to give to young entrepreneurs who look up to you?

Be passionate about what you do. Work every single day at making your dream become a reality.
