10 Struggles All Girls Have When Planning A Night Out

Whoever said girls were complicated... was right.
10 Struggles All Girls Have When Planning A Night Out

Remember that amazing night out with your girlfriends? You know the one where you drank too much, danced the night away, laughed so hard you got abs as you screamed "I can't!", and you still can't remember what you ordered at McDonald's? Yeah, that night was awesome but planning it was...hell.

As we all know, some of the best nights take for-freaking-ever to plan. And if you're more than five people, its like pulling teeth. There are many aspects to consider and problems to face when coming to an agreement, especially for us girls. Here are the ten struggles we face before planning a night out.

1. The Group Chat

This is where the idea for a girls night out is born. That one person who creates the group chat clearly didn't think it through because this is where your cellphone can be mistaken for a vibrator by those around you. The worst part? Nothing gets accomplished because the conversation goes from planning a night out, to something completely irrelevant.

2. Choosing a Location

After about an hour of texting random sh!t in your group chat, you finally get back to deciding where to go. With a big group of people, accommodating everyone's needs is going to be extremely difficult. The majority rules in this case, so you'll have to prepare yourself for hearing the minority complain for the rest of the night.

3. Deciding Who Will be the Driver

Time to negotiate! This is where your friends best excuses come to play; "I don't have the car tonight," "I drove four weekends ago," "I want to get drunk," or simply an honest "F*ck no" will do. It is at this time where you begin to talk your way through either getting out of being the driver or sacrificing being the designated driver. The best way to go about it is to take turns. Nobody wants to be the DD every time.

4. Selecting the Perfect Outfit

This part is crucial to us girls. We must chose wisely because an outfit can speak volumes. This usually calls for a whole day of shopping (and a cry of help from your credit card). If that wasn't successful, you begin raiding your closet and your girlfriends' closets until you get the perfect outfit. At this point, there's a lot of yelling as you girls are usually fighting with each other about who gets to wear whose top.

5. Getting Ready

This is a messy process. Let's just start off by saying girls are a mess when they get ready. There's makeup everywhere, your straightener and curler are both on and you always manage to burn yourself (and queue screaming), bras on the floor, shoes kicked around, and your mom yelling at you, "This better be cleaned up before you go!". This usually occurs at that same friend's house. It's routine...and necessary.

6. Deciding Where to Meet

Your meeting spot is the place where you finalize your plans, check if everyone is looking their best, complain about each other (who took long, who took whose clothes, or who's not down anymore), and leave together so the SQUAD arrives together.

7. Last Minute Errands

Happens. All. The. Time. No matter how organized you are or how you thought you planned everything for tonight, there's always missing one thing. For us girls, it's usually cigarettes, stopping at the bank for money, food because you forgot to eat something, picking up your friend's shoes at their house, or band-aids for your feet or nipples (depending your outfit). Nothing surprises us anymore.

8. Preparing Yourself For Who You're Going to See That Night

This conversation takes place on the way to wherever you're going. You start to get excited for the night ahead of you until you realize it isn't only going to be you and your friends at this place. Nope, real people go out too (shocker, right?). Panic, anxiety, excitement, fear, happiness, or anger. Name any emotion, it's probably running through your head as you think of the possible encounters of the night. Maybe an ex, people you say hi to but don't really like (fake smile on 100%), a family member (always asking "what are you doing here?" or "What are you wearing?"), or old friends you haven't seen in a while (TBT).

9. Parking

If you're lucky enough to be going to a place where there is actual parking spaces, you're living the dream. If you're not - like pretty much everywhere in Montreal - finding a parking spot takes forever. Between construction, "No Parking" signs, or assholes who take two spots, you'll have cursed your way to hell by then. It's at this time that all of your friends are trying to convince the driver that they can fit in the smallest spot possible while they direct the DD on how to move. "It's just a scratch, you won't even see it in the light!"

10. Taking the Perfect Picture To Post On Instagram

Every girl understands the importance of this final step. We all aim for either the typical laughing pic, sipping your drink pic, squad pic, or the best selfie. Then we stress over filter or no filter and WHEN to post it (Insta prime time = more likes). Questions that flow through our minds are: Do I look good? Do I look skinny? Does it look natural? Is it my good side? But like Nike would say, just do it.
