12 Weird Sports That Should Be In The PyeongChang Winter Olympics

How are these not a thing yet?
12 Weird Sports That Should Be In The PyeongChang Winter Olympics

The summer Olympics are filled with awesome sports, but when it comes to the winter Olympics the selection is pretty slim.

There are 42 disciplines in total during the summer, and each one is split into multiple events. On the other hand, the winter Olympics only has 15 disciplines!

Even less if you consider that bobsledding, luge and skeleton are pretty much the same thing.

But there are so many other amazing sports that should be included in the winter Olympics. Here ware some of the coolest and weirdest one we would love to see:

1. Polar Bear Swimming

Swimming competitions are entertaining in the summer. Now imagine adding an extra level of excitement by having the swimmers race each other beneath the ice. It might even get some summer athletes to cross over to the winter Olympics.

2. Downhill Skating

This sport was popularized by the Red Bull Crashed Ice event, it is easily one of the most thrilling winter sports that exists today.

3. Snowboard Big Air Competitions

We have snowboard freestyle and half pipe, but nothing is more spectacular than watching a pro snowboarder lauch himswelf off a 45 foot jump and trvelling 90 feet through the air.

4. Ski Ballet

It looks so stupid and cheesy that it's actually super entertaining to watch.

5. Dog Sledding

Not only would Canadians kick ass at this sport, but imagine how adorable it would be to have 6 proud puppers accepting a gold medal on the podium.

6. Ice Climbing

2 men, 1 giant wall of ice, and an insanely dangerous race to the top. What could go wrong?

7. Snowball Fight

Because let's face it, the Olympics are an opportunity to go to war with other countries without having to fire a bullet. This would quickly become the most popular event at the Olympics.

8. Ice Racing

Running competitions have gotten boring, it's time to add a new level of difficulty. Plus we would have the added potential of witnessing a spectacular wipeout.

9. Snow Kayak

My main argument for including this sport in the Olympics is simply this: It looks like the funnest thing in the world.

10. Barrel Jumping

How is this not a winter olympic sport already? I feel like there's no other reason for Barrel jumping to even exist.

11. Snowmobile Freestyle

In case you've never seen a human being trying to do a back-flip with a 500 pound snowmobile, you're seriously missing out.

12. Fatbike Racing

Once again, summer athletes would finally flock over the the dark side. It's just like biking, only downhill and much less boring.
