Happy start of fall Montreal! Hope that everyone is enjoying the chilly fall weather we've been feeling these past few days.

Is it just me or did September feel like it lasted about 2 minutes? I guess time flies when the weather is beautiful and you're having fun, of course.
There's a lot of fun to look forward to this October in Montreal. Scanning through the interwebs I noticed a lot of music-centered shows and events happening this October! Music lovers, you'll definitely want to check this list out.
1. Check out the legendary Mr.Oizo at the SAT
When: Saturday, October 6th
Where: SAT
For those of you who are electronic music fans, Mr. Oizo is a familiar name. For those of you who don't know, he's a legend in the game. Mr.Oizo will be playing along with local acts at the SAT this October. It's a show not to miss; 5.3K already interested on the Facebook event page.
2. Check out first-ever Sake and Japanese food festival!
When: October 25th
Where: Studio Mile-End // 6250 Rue Hutchinson
This event is hosted by the Association Saké Québec and will be held in the heart of the Mile-End. This event will showcase over 70 varities of Sake! Also, you will be able to eat and pad your stomach while enjoying delicious sake. Japanese food will be provided by some of Montreal’s top chefs and restaurants.
3. Check out Mont Kimbie playing a DJ set at Ausgang Plaza
When: Friday, October 5th
Where: Ausgang Plaza // 6524 St-Hubert
Ausgang Plaza is an awesome multi-purpose event space that transforms into a gallery, bar, or full-blown party depending on the event. It's located on Plaza St-Hubert, which is not necessarily known to be party central, so it's definitely an interesting experience. I would check out Mount Kimbie playing DJ set there this coming month.
4. Check out the biggest show of the month: J. Cole at the Bell Center
When: Friday, October 5th
Where: Centre Bell
This is going to be an amazing show. Not only is J. Cole's most recent album a masterpiece, but the tour itself is also already getting a ton of buzz online. Check it out for yourself at the Bell center this October. Tickets are still available!
5. Check out the very last "First Friday" food truck festival at the Olympic Park
When: Friday, October 5th
Where: Olympic Park
First Fridays is a massive gathering of food trucks that happens, as its name suggests, every first Friday of the month. Entry is 100% free! On October 5th, Montreal will be hosting the very last first Friday of the season and it will go out with a bang in a special collaboration with YATAI MTL.
6. Check out the Concordia Famer's Market
When: Every Wednesday at 11 a.m.
Where: 1515 Sainte-Catherine West
Every Wednesday, Concordia U wants you to come chat with awesome vendors right on campus. On top of meeting local producers and crafters, you will have the chance to purchase great affordable products that support the local economy and are made sustainably.

7. Attend a screening of the iconic Rocky Horror Picture Show
When: October 26th, 27th & 31st
Where: Cinéma Impérial // 1430 Rue de Bleury
There are few things more iconic than getting dressed up and heading to a screening of the classic cult film the Rocky Horror Picture Show on Halloween.
8. Take a mini road trip to Tremblant's Illuminated "Fairy Tale Forest" show this October
When: Select your date, until October 14th
Where: Mont Tremblant
Located in Mont-Tremblant, Tonga Lumina is a 1.5km illuminated forest path and takes about an hour to complete (depending on your speed). This year the path will be open from June 8 to October 14, 2018. Book your tickets in advance (for adults it's $28), since space is limited. Make sure to head there before it's too late!
9. Check out Montreal's premiere "Horror Movie Festival"
When: October 18th - 27th
Where: Club Soda
If you're looking to do something a little different, then I have just the event for you! The 17th annual Spasm Film Festival is back, running from October 18th-27th. Enjoy a night of being scared to death – with spine-chilling short films from Quebec and around the world at Club Soda. Ticket are available to buy online now!
10. Tingle your taste buds at some of Montreal's brand-new restaurants opening this fall
This fall, Montreal is getting some fantastic looking restaurants, like Toronto's Kupfert & Kim pictured above, that offer food for every taste, palette, and, most importantly, budget. Students, we got you. Check out all the anticipated new restaurants in the link below!
11. Check out these Montreal museums for FREE!
Where: Participating museums
When: Sunday, October 7th
If you're a resident of Quebec, you will have free access to several museums on the first Sunday of every month. On October 7th, it will be 100% free to attend these museums: Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Canadian Centre for Architecture, Montreal Holocaust Museum, McCord Museum, Musée d'art Contemporain de Montréal, Musée des maîtres et artisans du Québec, and the Écomusée de la Maison du fier monde.
12. Check out this ongoing "Street Art" exhibit at Places Des Arts downtown
When: Until October 28th
Where: Places Des Arts
The Quartier Des Spectacles at Place Des Arts is hosting a recurring free event and outdoor exhibit until October 28th. It's called "Surfaces" and it's an expo of urban "street" art. Don't forget to stop by throughout the month to check out some of the amazing works from talented local artists!
13. Attend the McGill Book Fair for a good cause
Where: Redpath Library // Downtown
When: October 16th, 17th, 18th
Every fall, McGill U hosts a massive book fair at the Redpath Library. It's open to the public, not just for students, and the best part is that new and used books are super cheap and all proceeds from the Fair provide scholarships and bursaries for McGill students.
14. Check out the weekly pop-up "farmers market" at Marché Des Éclusiers

When: Every Saturday at 3 p.m. until October 27th
There's nothing better than checking out a farmers market in the fall. It's the best time to take advantage of the good weather. Check out this pop-up seasonal market at Marché Des Éclusiers, which will be hosted throughout the month of October.
15. Attend the Montreal "vegan festival" this month
Where: Palais Des Congres
When: October 20th & 21st
Calling all vegans and wellness lovers. A massive vegan festival is coming to Montreal and you will be pleasantly surprised to find out that entry to the festival at Palais de Congres is 100% free! This is quite rare for a festival of this scale, so take advantage!
16. Check out legendary comedian Gad Elmaleh perform at Olympia
When: Sunday, October 21st
Where: Olympia de Montréal // 1004 Ste-Catherine Est
Gad Elmaleh is back in Montreal for his legendary "dream tour." Fans are excited to see him perform at an intimate venue in downtown Montreal the Olympia Theatre. Although his name is French, his stand-up show will be in English and is roll-on-the-floor funny, but still PG enough for the whole family. Tickets are selling fast!
17. Check out the beautiful "Lantern Festival" at the Montreal Botanical Gardens
