Bad news, Montreal — Toronto has beat us once again in a QS University Ranking. This time, the University of Toronto has McGill beat in every category in the new "World University Rankings By Subject."
The report looked at five broad subjects: arts and humanities, engineering and technology, life sciences and medicine, natural sciences, and social sciences and management.
QS says it "analysed nearly 14,000 individual university programs from 1,440 universities across 85 locations around the world," organizing them into "51 different subjects" across the five categories, which it called "broad subject areas."
UofT also gets an additional distinction. QS writes that "no university around the world is included in the top 50 for a subject more than the University of Toronto in Canada."
Unsurprisingly, Harvard and MIT get top honours. The two Boston-area universities "both ranked as the best university in the world for a dozen subjects — more than any other university," according to QS.
The premier said Quebec's minister of higher education, Danielle McCann, has already begun working with Quebec universities to "act quickly" to address censorship — which he referred to as "a problem that began in our universities."
Their just cause must not be hijacked by radicals who want to censor, muzzle, intimidate and bully our freedom of speech.
Premier François Legault
"Teachers are being asked to erase the works of some of our great writers, such as Anne Hébert [and] Réjean Ducharme ... This is absurd. It goes against the very idea of the university," Legault wrote.
Legault said he was thinking of a particular situation at the University of Ottawa that "shocked quite a few people," himself included.
Calling all Starbucks drinkers! The coffee giant is bringing three new drinks to its winter menu, including dairy-free options and "seasonal sippers" that are perfect for keeping cozy in the winter months.
The Honey Oat Latte will be joining the café's roster of dairy-free drinks, as well as adding a range of dairy-free alternatives for a customizable order.
The Pistachio Latte uses real pistachios and brown butter for a totally creamy, totally cozy option that'll bring you a sense of cozy on even the snowiest of days.
And for those that still look for that chill even in the winter, the Pistachio Frappuccino® Blended Beverage offers the same richness and creaminess, with the coolness that has us daydreaming of warmer weather.
According to the company, the decision to bring in more dairy-free options comes from a finding from Statistics Canada that Canadians consume 20 percent fewer dairy products than they did 10 years ago.
Not surprisingly, more and more Canadians are looking for these types of options, according to Mintel.
