Metro passes are expensive. But considering that the only real alternative is buying a car, it's not like you have much of a choice. At least it's nice to know that the OPUS pass in your pocket can get you more than just bus and metro rides.
The STM actually offers a number of exclusive deals to monthly pass holders. Everything from shows and activities, to food and BIXI discounts.
There are currently 18 deals listed on the STM website, so take a look for yourself to see what you've probably been missing out on.
$59 Off BIXI Year-Round Subscription
This is the first of 2 offers from BIXI. Perfect for people who use BIXI all season long.
Boutique Voir is an online store that exclusively features Montreal stores. They call it "30% discount" but that's not exactly what it is. Let's say you select a store and you want to spend $100, the store will give you an additional $30 worth of merchandise.
But there's another special deal you can take advantage of. One that will grant you the power to hand out FREE bus and metro rides to your friends like some kind of public transportation wizard.

With Maestro status, you can use your metro card to ride the RTC in Quebec City for free and you get free rides for your friends from 6:00 pm to 5 a.m. on week days and all day long on weekends right here in Montreal.
Apple cares about your education. That's why students (as well as those who have just recently been accepted to university) can take advantage of special pricing on a ton of items. This deal is good for parents of student and teachers too.
Taking a trip to the grocery store is pretty necessary for students. If you do make the trip, you should almost always go on Mondays, when Métro, Provigo, and most other grocery stores offer a 10% student discount. Many will offer the discount on Tuesdays and Wednesday too, just be sure to have your student ID on you, otherwise you won’t be saving any money. Student can also get their food delivered at a discount.
A few clothing stores around Montreal offer student and educational discounts, but they don't all necessarily advertise it. Banana Republic offers a 15% discount for students and teachers every day, Urban Outfitters will give you 20% off your purchase and Roots Also has some special deals.
Want to soak up some culture without emptying your wallet? Certain Montreal Museums offer discounts or free entrance to students. And if that's not convenient enough, you can simply visit any museum you like on FREE Museum Day.
This is by far the best deal on the list because you can save $1100 in a single purchase. Normally a season pass at Mont-Tremblant costs $1359, but if you buy it in advance with your student card, you get it for only $299
