20 Canada Memes That Are Actually Hilarious

Apparently, the Internet has a love/hate relationship with Canada...
20 Canada Memes That Are Actually Hilarious

One of the best, and arguably worst, parts of the Internet is that nothing is sacred. Much like rule 34 of the Internet, if it exists, there is a meme of it.

And while some memes are so stupid you wish you'd never seen them, some of them are so true it hurts.

Below are some Canadian memes that made me actually laugh out loud.

TL;DR Canada is the butt of the joke in these 20 hilarious memes.

When a meme is truly hilarious it's because it has spoken to some universal truth... like this one about the Canada Post strike...

Or the reality for people who live in the north...

With that said, in some instances a meme just goes to show how uniquely absurd it is to live in Canada sometimes...

There's also something about a meme that can perfectly depict how real the Canadian struggle is sometimes...

I completely died with these reaction memes featuring our dear Drake...

... because he apparently perfectly encapsulates Canadians' feelings about Tim Hortons...

And of course, it's always way too easy to make fun of our cold winters and our serious snowfalls.... but sometimes an easy joke is still a good joke.

And I'm just personally partial to Spiderman memes because... well, it's Spidey!

I love a good "Meanwhile in Canada..." just like the next person. Whoever made this meme took it to the next level, though.

I had to ask: when was the last time these people shovelled their parking lot? 300 A.D?!

There are also countless memes out there that are just ragging on the Canada/Britain/U.S.A. dynamic.

Some of which, I think, don't give Canada enough credit for being its own unique self. Like I get it's easy to compare Canada and the States but... y'all know we are two totally separate countries, right?

Proof of that: this meme that shows how potentially confusing our signs can be to outsiders...

A lot of these memes couldn't help but make me feel proud to be Canadian, too...

Not only do we have the ever-famous 6 Dad, Norm Kelly...

Me: You're a politician, stop tweeting like this.

Inner me: You're too lit to politic. pic.twitter.com/Gizbnu5LKM

But even the Green Party seems to be up on their meme game:

Tfw you work so hard to convince a company from Texas that a pipeline running through indigenous land, carrying bitumen, makes no common or economic sense, and then your own government goes ahead and buys it from them. pic.twitter.com/lcDor0Kavz

On the other hand, some politicians seem to find themselves as the crux of the joke, over and over again...

It actually seems like a lot of Canada memes have some political slant...

But mostly, they're really about how friggen sickeningly polite we can be sometimes...

And at the end of the day, if we can't laugh at ourselves, then we're really taking ourselves too seriously.

So, thank god for these memes and the great Canadian sense of humour.

Here's What's Open & What's Closed On Labour Day In Montreal

There are still a ton of things to do this Monday holiday!
  • Here's a short list of what's open and what's closed on Labour Day in Montreal.
  • If you're heading out, make sure to call ahead to your destination to inquire about reduced hours.

Yes, it's a long weekend! Three uninterrupted days to relax, have fun, and not think for two seconds about things like school or work, or other responsibilities until Tuesday morning. Not to be too depressing but it will be six weeks before we get another official long weekend.

But let's focus on the positive! This is usually one of the summer weekends that people are trying to pack in their last days of camping or chalet time. But if you're planning to stay in the city it's good to know what's open and what's closed so you can plan out your Labour Day weekend.
