By now it is no secret that one lucky 22-year-old and his family in Quebec have recently become $70 million richer. The historic Loto-Québec Lotto Max prize was the result of two draws with no winner, allowing the prize to continue climbing to this historic prize amount. This is the second time in less than two months that a $70 million jackpot prize was up for grabs.

The previous draw in January saw the prize go to a winner in Ontario. This most recent draw also saw eight $1 million prizes go to winners across the country.

Reports started to trickle out after the draw that the jackpot winner was in the province of Quebec. Shortly thereafter, the winning region was narrowed down to Quebec City.

Loto-Québec has yet to confirm the identity of the winners, though they have confirmed that it was, in fact, a family of eight who will share the massive prize.

The media was quick to focus in on the 22-year-old member of the family because it was at the IGA in Lévis where he works that the winning ticket was validated.

Sometimes life really is stranger than fiction.

We called to speak with the manager at IGA Extra St-Romuald where the ticket was validated to find out how the news was treating those who know the newly-minted millionaire family.

Manager Nancy Godbout was not available, but another employee confirmed that the 22-year-old winner that works as a bag boy has not yet quit his job at the IGA Extra St-Romuald.

Well, not officially. But we both laughed, agreeing that we wouldn't blame him if he did decide to give his two weeks' notice.

I also wanted to know what the IGA Extra St-Romuald would be doing with the 1% commission that totals a whopping $700,000 for the store.

The employee was quick to correct me — the IGA Extra St-Romuald would not receive the commission, as they did not sell the ticket, but only validated it.

At a press conference Friday, Loto-Québec officially presented the winning family.

And, as it goes with lotteries, another Lotto Max prize is up for grabs tonight. Sure, it's only a measly $19 million, but it's better than nothing, right?

This Canada-wide lottery gives you a 1 in 33 million chance at winning the jackpot.
