5 Secret Montreal Locations No One Knows About

Hidden gems you'd probably never find on your own.
5 Secret Montreal Locations No One Knows About

Many nooks and crannies exist in Montreal, some hiding some unique gems that most people don't know about. So many secrets staircases, streets, and buildings are all around Montreal, you just need to know where to find them.

That's where we come in. To help you experience a new side of the city, we've compiled a short list of some secret Montreal spots for you to explore.

Time to explore below!

Old Port Secret Washrooms

500 St. Francois-Xavier

Just a random, unassuming door, right? Take this secret Old Montreal pathway and you'll be taken through time (not literally) to a public bathroom that looks 100 years old. If vintage toilets are your thing, then here's where you gotta go.

The Old Timey Western Street

Rue de Grand-Pre

In between Villeneuve and Saint Joseph, this random Mile End side street looks like something out of a spaghetti western. Well, at least the pictures string of houses do. Can't you just picture them all as a saloon, general store, and sheriff's office? Maybe I've got cowboys on the brain, but still cool and unseen elsewhere.

Parc Belmont

Who knew there was an amusement park in Montreal besides La Ronde? Unless you were a kid sometime in the 1930s, you probably never did. Parc Belmont was shut down in the early 80s, although it still functions today as one of the lesser-known, but just as beautiful, natural parks of Montreal.

Street So Steep It Needs Stairs

2002 De l'Hôtel-de-Ville Ave.

Montreal is built on a mountain, so we're all used to hills, but this small street takes steep to a whole new level. It's so friggin' vertical the city actually had to build stairs for pedestrians to traverse the epic incline. A great leg workout if you're looking for one.

Secret Stairs Up the Mountain

3980 Chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges.

Need another route St. Joseph's Oratory? Want to race your friends up the mountain and hack the whole thing with a legit shortcut? Then try out this "secret" staircase and cut your walking time in half.

Special thanks to the redditors who helped compile this list from the original post.
