Everyone enjoys going downtown and discovering some cool new restaurant, making it their new favourite place and showing it to all of their friends. But the sad truth for us West Islanders is that travelling downtown just to sit and eat dinner for an hour might not always be worth it. However, there is good news- the West Island has got some amazing restaurants that wont break your bank, taste incredible and are relatively close to you!
1. Jukebox Burgers
11798 Boulevard de Salaberry
Jukebox is probably one of the most unique restaurants on the West Island. Modeled after a diner that looks like it belongs in the Grease movies, you'd never believe it only opened in 2010. If burgers and fries are your thing, then you can't miss out on the experience of driving up to Jukebox and grabbing one of their authentic burgers and milkshakes. They do a great job of combining old and new to create the perfect comfort food we all love. If you think the '1/4 Elvis' and 'Buddy Holly' could taste good, what about the dish called 'Epic Meal Time Challenge'?
2. Dundees Deli & Bar
106 Rue Sainte-Anne
Located in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Dundees is a cozy restaurant along the beautiful lakeside. Known for their fish and chips, they also so serve a wide-variety of great food like seafood, pastas and pizzas. Whether you sit outside and enjoy the view with a nice date or stay inside and catch a sports game with your friends, Dundees is simply a nice place to just relax and enjoy good food at a pretty decent price.
3. Smoke Meat Pete
Famed restaurant Smoke Meat Pete is situated just on the edge of L'Ile Perrot just before you cross the bridge to Sainte-Annes. With a combination of live blues and jazz music every night and menu choices like smoked meat, hot dogs, poutine and fries, there's no reason not to give it a shot. Over the eighteen years of business they've had, Smoke Meat Pete's has begun selling their own products, expanded with a whole new porch and garnered the respect of CTV anchors, Gazette writers and of course, only all of the West Island. So if you haven't tried their food yet but plan to, it wont be long until you begin saying "You can't beat Smoke Meat Pete!" like everyone else. Interested?

4. Cunninghams Pub
Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue pub Cunninghams is a favorite for quite a few people in the area, mainly because of the friendly and calm atmosphere. Coming to Cunninghams after a long day and meeting up with some friends makes for the perfect evening. Serving everything from regular pub food like nachos and chicken wings (did you know they have an actual 'wing night?') to more filling dishes like seafood chowder, burgers, fish and chips, chicken and of course desserts- you HAVE to try the Deep Fried Cheesecake at least once in your life! Besides the obvious mouth-watering food that they've got, Cunninghams is also great for their live music acts.
5. Bistro Nolah
3669 Blvd St Jeans
Located on Boulevard St. Jean, this New-Orleans inspired restaurant is the perfect place if you're looking to take someone special or just feel like eating something classy and comforting at the same time. Serving dishes like Gumbo, fried oysters, crab cakes and jambalaya and ribs, there's something for everyone taste - and budget!
6. Le Milsa
579 St-Martin W
A Brazilian Steakhouse in Montreal? Yep that's right! Located in Dollard and Laval, Le Milsa is perfect if you're looking to try a new and unique cuisine! With an all you can eat traditional turnstile, Salmon filet and other charcoal grilled dishes, you're set. And there's not a chance you'll be able to sit there bored all night because Le Milsa offers a live samba dance performance that goes all through restaurant and gives an encouraging atmosphere to the guests. So don't be afraid to get up and shake it!
