Looking for somewhere to go on a first date can be a complete and total stress fest. You want to be able to take them somewhere they haven’t already been, however you can’t venture too far off from school because you’re crunched for time with fast approaching midterms. Luckily, you can stay local and still make your honey swoon. The Concordia campus has plenty of interesting and creative date opportunities for you to choose from, and here are some of the best.

Dinner Date - Picks Burgers

If you like to stick to the good ol’ fashion date formula – dinner and good conversation – then PicksBurgers is the place for you. This restaurant has a set up that is small and intimate so you can actually hear the other person talk. On top of being a great place to chat, they also have amazing food. Picks has a crazy amount of toppings, such as chipotle mayo and Gouda cheese, to dress your burger anyway you please. And if you and your date want to share something then you can try their famous, and oh so delicious, Kogo (Korean Pogo).

Movie Date - Cinema Politica

A good way to experience a classic date is to go to a movie. Rather than spending a lot of money to see a mediocre flick, why not try something different? Concordia (along with many other schools) is a part of this amazing organization called Cinema Politica, who screen independent, political films from across Canada. It’s a great way for you and your date to bond over an issue you are both passionate about, and put your money towards something worth while.

Coffee Date - Café 92

Is there any better way to get to know a person then over a hot beverage? If you live at the Loyola campus then you have great means to do such. Café 92 is going to be your best friend when it comes to dating. You don’t have to worry about your date not liking anything on the menu because Cafe 92's so extensive. You don’t have to worry about getting a seat because they have so many. And you don’t have to worry about getting on the bus to go home because the campus is right around the corner. Perfection.

Gallery Date - MMFA: Warhol Mania Exhibit

The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts is an optimal place to take out a first date. Instead of sitting around, the two of you can actually get to know each other while learning about something else. The MMFA is free if you go on a general tour, however the tickets for exhibits are also pretty cheap. We recommend taking your date to the Warhol Mania exhibit. Whether you love or hate Warhol you can’t deny he's pretty interesting. Your opinion is just another thing for the two of you to connect over anyway.

Outdoor Date - Architecture Park/Loyola Campus

Weather permitting of course. But when it’s sunny and warm, going for a walk and talk can be surprisingly romantic. By the downtown campus we recommend perusing Architecture Park, which is very close to the Grey Nuns residences. For those of you who live on Loyola turf then we recommend lounging on your own campus. It’s freakin’ gorgeous! Why not make good use of it?

Live Music Date - Upstairs

Going to a bar that plays live music is a great option for a first date because you get the best of both worlds. What we mean is that you get the experience of watching a show, however you still have the ability to talk to your date. Upstairs is the prime location to do just that. The locale's chill vibe coupled with the slow jazz music allows for the both of you to shake off your first date nerves and relax.

Drinks Date - Kafein Cafe/Bar

Another great way to shake off the first date nerves is with a nice big cocktail. Are you and your date looking to drink something a little stronger than water? We have you covered. While Kafein is a coffee shop by day, in the evening they transform into a lounge – like bar. They have amazing happy hour specials so neither of you have to break the bank, and their mixed drinks are sure to make you forget all about how nervous you were. You can just enjoy each others company without the stress!
