7 Places Where You Can Go Horseback Riding This Summer Near Montreal

It's finally getting warm in Montreal, which means we can actually enjoy getting to do things outside again, and if you're like me, that means one thing - horseback riding. It's one of those things that a lot of people want to try, but might not have found the time or place to do it. But luckily for us, Montreal is surrounded by plenty of horse riding locations, so even if you live in the city, you can still get the authentic equestrian experience.

1. Saint Lazare Ranch

About 40 minutes outside Montreal, Saint Lazare Ranch will give you an amazing western-style trail riding experience. It's a good time for everyone, from the complete beginner to the seasoned rider, getting to take a break from the city and take in the scenic trails. The ranch has different reservation packages that you can pick from, including a 2 hour sunset ride, so you can choose how long you want to ride for.

2. Ranch Double G

With over 100 km of riding trails, Double G is worth the 45 min drive from Montreal. You can sign up for hourly riding where you'll get to ride through the forest, taking in the wildlife, or you can opt for an overnight horse riding camping trip, complete with a bonfires, marshmallows and beer.

3. Ecuries La Montée

For anyone looking to horseback ride on a more consistent basis, Ecuries La Montée in Saint Bruno has weekly English lessons for all levels, so it doesn't matter if you're a total newbie or think you're the next Ian Miller. Kids have to be at least 8 to sign up for lessons, but they have a summer camp for ages 7-15.

4. Auberge & Spa Beau Rêves

This beautiful and quaint country inn and spa, about an hour outside Montreal, has tons of amazing services year round, but in the spring and summer they also have horseback riding. They have different overnight packages that include a riding excursion, or for just $74 you can get can get access to the spa, lunch and a horseback ride.

5. Equitation Elysee

Another option for those who want to ride a bit more consistently, Equitation Elysee has weekly lessons all year round and is conveniently just half an hour from Montreal. They also have summer and spring break camps and can accommodate everyone from beginners to advanced riders.

6. Cemi Cheval

Only 20 minutes from Montreal, this family run farm has been in operation since 1977. They have a wide range of riding options from hunter/jumper and dressage lessons to kids parties and summer camps.

7.  Tremblant Horseback Riding

If you find yourself heading towards Tremblant, then you can check out the horseback riding that they have there. They have both mountain and forest western trail rides, as well as a sunset ride. You'll get to walk right past some bison while taking in the beautiful landscape, which makes for a pretty cool experience.
