7 Reasons Why Travelling Is Wayyyyyy Better Than A Boyfriend

'You’re a strong independent woman that doesn't need a man'.

Have ever been wondering if leaving your boyfriend at home while you're doing the trip of your life is okay? Well, this is the sign to do it.

Travelling is the best thing in life that could ever happen and you surely don't want to miss an opportunity to discover the world because of some guy you barely know. While there are so many reasons why travelling is way better than a boyfriend, I've narrowed down the most important ones:

1. Travelling is way better than a boyfriend because you won’t have your whole life to travel

Sorry to 'pop' your bubble, but there is going to be a moment in your life when you won’t be able to travel that easily. You’ll have a family, a job and a lot more responsibilities than you do right now. Travelling is such an incredible thing to do and when you’ll be old, I’m pretty sure you don’t want to look back at the past and regret not doing something you always wanted to do. You can always love someone for a lifetime but many travelling experiences will only happen once.

2. Travelling is way better than a boyfriend because you will no longer have a comfort zone

When you date someone you kind of have a little routine that makes the both of you happy. But while you’re doing the things you’re comfortable with, you’re missing a lot of others things that you might not know you like because you never tried them. Travelling will make you face your fears like getting lost in a town where you don’t know anyone and don’t understand a thing about what is going on around you. Also, it will make you take a lot of risks and you’ll feel more alive than ever because your heart will be pounding of excitement since it will want to see what adventure is going to happen next.

3. Travelling is way better than a boyfriend because you will meet new people

There are over 7 billion humans walking on earth right now and they’re all totally different. Instead of getting to know only one person, you’ll be able to know different people and hear about their stories that might teach you valuable things about life. These people will help you grow as a person and make you feel at home. You’ll learn new cultures and new lifestyles. Another good thing is that it will create meaningful relationships and those people will be your chance to visit another place in the future. Also, you might even meet the person you’ve been waiting for your whole life.

4. Travelling is way better than a boyfriend because it will make you have more stories to tell

Yes, we all know you take cute pictures, go to a movie or a romantic dinner with your boyfriend. The thing is, most people in a relationship do these kinds of things and, while they might be special for you, some people don’t want to hear the same stories every week. And to be honest, anyone who start a conversation with ‘so last year when I was on a safari in Tanzania...’ has 100% more chance to get my attention than someone who talks about the movie they saw last night with their boyfriend. All your travelling experiences are unique and must be shared with the people around you. Your stories might even be the sign someone has been waiting for to pack their bags and leave.

5. Travelling is way better than a boyfriend because it will make you more independent

Trying to find out where your hostel is from the airport late at night, which bus or train to take to get to one place to another, asking directions in a language you don’t understand or how to shop without getting ripped off are many things you’ll have to figure out by your own. Your independence will grow since you’ll have no one to rely on and to ask help. You will have to find ways to manage yourself. Having no one by your side will show you one thing : you can always count on yourself. And remember, you’re a strong independent woman that doesn't need a man.

6. Travelling is way better than a boyfriend because you will not have to face drama

When you’re dating someone, your mind is often concerned about your partner and many other things that come from being in a commitment. Thus, your mind is never fully free. However, travelling lets you decompress and forget about everything. You have no pressure from anyone to plan your future or to work on a relationship you already know will never happen.

7. Travelling is way better than a boyfriend because you’ll have nothing to hold you back

Having a boyfriend means you mostly have to act as a "we"and it often means you’ll do things to please your partner that sometimes, you don’t really want to do. But while you’re travelling, you’ll soon realize that you’re a free to do whatever you want. No one will be there to limit your experiences. Like, if you want to change countries every two weeks, find new places to call home or have a conversation at 3am with someone you’ll never ever see again, just do it. No one will judge you for your decisions or stop you. In fact, life is too short not to travel and not to have fun.
