Smoked salmon, cream cheese, and a whole lot of happiness.
8 Best Montreal "Bagel And Lox ” You Need To Eat At Least Once In Your Life

I know they say that the breakfast of champs is technically a donut, but I seriously think that it should actually be a nice, fresh Montreal bagel, packed with cream cheese and deliciously decadent smoked salmon.

Seriously, bagels and lox is one of my all-time favourite dishes. And if you're like me, and also happen to be wondering just where you can get your hands on one of the tastiest treats in the whole city, then wonder no more. I've got your back.

1. Bagel Etc

If you're a bagel lover, then you're going to fall TF in love with Bagel, Etc. Situated in Montreal's Plateau, this breakfast/brunch restaurant features fresh and tasty bagels in practically every single dish they do.

So you can only imagine how amazing their bagel and lox is. Fresh and packed with enough smoked salmon to leave you with a big, huge smile on your face - plus served up with a side of their delicious potatoes - this dish is a huge win.

2.Fairmount Bagel

74 Avenue Fairmount O

One of Montreal's most classic bagel institutions, it's no surprise that Fairmount gets the salmon and lox so fantastically correct.

There are very little frills when it comes to this bagel, cream cheese, and lox dish - and that's what makes it so beautiful. Just a fresh, hot, classic Fiarmount bagel with tasty cream cheese, piled high with so much fresh smoked salmon that you might just actually cry real tears of pure happiness. Awesome? You know it.

Although going to St-Viateur's flagship bakery won't score you a freshly put together St-Viateur bagel with lox, taking a trip down to any one of the St-Viateur Bagel & Cafe locations definitely will.

Which is good news for those of us who have a soft spot for the fresh, handmade bagels at St-Viateur. I'm not looking to ignite any Fairmount VS St-Viateur beef, so all I'm going to say is that the bagel and lox from St-Viateur is just as fresh, amazing, abundant, and tasty as the one from Fairmount.

At this stage in the game, Beautys is an institution. And although their vast menu is full of amazing dishes, like their pancakes, signature Mish-Mash omelette, and their beyond amazing mac and cheese, there's just something special about their bagel and lox dish.

Appropriately named the Beautys Special, this dish features tangy and tasty cream cheese, onions, tomatoes, and enough lox to leave you feeling satisfied - all stuffed on a fresh, tasty Montreal bagel. Friends, I honestly don't think it gets any better than this.

I honestly believe that Hinnawi Bros can take any sandwich and turn it into a bagel. They've got bagels with roast beef and brie; they've got bagels with filet mignon; they've even got bagels with pulled pork.

But my personal fave? Their L'Atlantique bagel, featuring cream cheese, capers, and - you guessed it - thick, rich slabs of smoked salmon. All the yums? You know it.

This Mile End restaurant seriously has everything you could possibly want in a breakfast restaurant. They have pancakes, eggs Benedict, French toast (which can be made with challah bread if you want), omelettes... Basically, it's a food lover's paradise.

Oh, and of course they also happen to have one of the tastiest bagels and lox dishes in the city, hands down. Imagine a fresh, crispy, Montreal bagel, smeared with thick and tasty cream cheese, and stuffed with so much smoked salmon, capers, and onions that you'll literally feel satisfied with one bite. (Not that that'll stop you or anything, this dish is so good you'll have to mentally prepare yourself in order to stop eating it).

7. Snowdon Deli

I think it's pretty safe to say that, at this point, Snowdon Deli, in Montreal's Côte-des-Neiges, is an institution. Their food is always fresh, tasty, fairly priced, and served up in huge portions; plus, their incredibly welcoming vibe makes this spot a huge winner.

And although they're more known for their amazing smoked meat, I think the real star of the show is their bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese. A tasty, chewy Montreal bagel, filled to the brim with rich smoked salmon, tangy cream cheese, and topped off with an olive? Yeah, count me in.

8. Le Cartet

If you want one seriously fantastic brunch in Montreal, then you should totally head out to Le Cartet. They've got quality ingredients, big portions, fair prices, and a casual, trendy atmosphere, making it one of the most perfect spots in the city to get your brunch on.

And if your brunches happen to include a dish of bagels and lox, then you're in luck, because Le Cartet does them up so, so right. One bite of the decadent smoked salmon, tasty cream cheese, and thick, tasty Montreal bagel will leave you wanting more. No judgements if you order yourself a second plate; we've all been there.
