8 Montreal Brunch Spots To Impress That Special Someone
Photo Cred - Eva Wang at Ludger
Who doesn’t love a greasy, cheap breakfast to cure those hangovers (that I swear are most epic in this city)? This list is however, a little more refined and shines a big bright light on the fancier side of Mtl Brunches, including Le Cartet in Old Montreal and H4C in St Henri. The type of place you’ll want to take that someone special to (even if that happens to be you). So now you can either:

Le Cartet
106 McGill Street
It’s no surprise to anyone that the Old Port is home to some of this city’s best brunching spots; and one that we undoubtedly can’t look over, is Le Cartet.
Situated on the south-end of McGill Street is where you can find this cozy, rustic brunch boutique. Brunch boutique? Le Cartet also boasts a specialty store at its front entrance, making its impressive factor, a definite dime.

Olive et Gourmando
351 St. Paul Street West
Another Old Montreal staple is Olive et Gourmando, located on St Paul Street. It’s super, super tiny and even more so busy, but trust when we say, YUM.
The bread (their olive bread is to die for...coincidence much?), the flavours, the coffee will keep you coming back - no matter how much your bank account begs you otherwise.

Au P’tit Cochon Santé
4293 Notre-Dame St. West
You might think the best part of this place is its name, P’tit Cochon Sante...does that even make sense?
This is the type of place you want to bring that special someone who cares for that perfect balance of taste, freshness and quality. With homemade deliciousness like red pepper confit and maple sauce (yes, sauce and not syrup), this brunch spot leaves nothing more to be desired. And in this case, that happens to be a really good thing.

H4C
538 Place Saint-Henri
This place occupies a historic post office located on Saint-Henri and is equally beautiful from the inside, as it is the outside.
Following in the local, organic movement they source their ingredients from local suppliers such as St. Henri Torrefacteur and Birri Fruits & Legumes. But most importantly, they’ve followed in the delicious food movement as well, boasting items such as a Chocolate-hazelnut Brioche and Eggs Benedict with mushroom, bacon ad spinach. Enough said right?

Lawrence
5201 St. Laurent Blvd.
Lawrence is one of those ultra tasty places, with a super trendy ambiance; making it a wonderfully impressive, brunch spot.
The menu items range from scones with jam, chocolate lemon doughnuts, to baked eggs with celery root and oyster mushrooms. Definitely a treat worth splurging for.
Fabergé
25 Fairmont Ave. West
You may not find the famous Fabergé eggs, but you will certainly find tasty ones.
A super modern brunch spot, with white chairs, purple sofas and crazy ceiling art, the decor while impressive, pales in comparison to the awesome food that’s served. A great place for a date or family affair.

Sparrow - Le Moineau
5322 St. Laurent Blvd.
At Sparrow-Le Moineau, the menu is short, but oh so sweet.
We’d first begin by suggesting a blood orange mimosa, while you contemplate the delicious items, on the otherwise concise menu. Perhaps some fried eggs with sage? Or maybe you’re more of a PB & J doughnut type; either way make sure you add Sparrow-Le Moineau to your brunch bucket list.
Buvette Ludger
4001 Notre-Dame St. West
Once again, we have another St Henri winner; otherwise known as Buvette Ludger.
While we would definitely recommend going there the next time you’re craving oysters and champagne, we equally suggest making a trip on a Saturday or Sunday for their brunch; when by the way, those same oysters can still be enjoyed - and this time with a side of eggs and "creton maison".
Le Trèfle
3971 Ontario E + 363 Forges
Located in Hochegala-Maisonneuve, this Irish Pub lets you chow down on brunch while watching the game. Their menu is filled with the usual brunch fare but with a pub twist. Their breakfast poutine - The Celtic - is piled high with potatoes, bacon, hollandaise sauce, and cheese cubes, and is topped off with a fried egg. You definitely won't go home hungry.
