9 They Used To Be Famous And Now They Are Not

Ever wonder what your favourite childhood celebs are up to now?
9 They Used To Be Famous And Now They Are Not

We've all had our phases, admiring a certain band or celebrity for what appears to seem like forever, referring to that famous individual as someone who we "grew up" with. If it's a band that you spent nearly half of your high school years listening too, you probably remember downloading each and every one of their albums off of Napster or Limewire, and covering your walls with massive posters of the group. . You used to know every little fact about the band, from the members' full names to the tune of every track.

Now, you probably don't have the slightest clue as to what's going on in their lives. Maybe its because you've moved on to love a different genre, or maybe you've stopped giving  a damn about the lives of those celebrities. Either way, reminders and updates about those celebrities whom we "grew up" with is always interesting... and entertaining.

1. Chris Crocker

Although not famous for any talent, Chris Crocker's YouTube video, demanding that people "leave Britney Spears alone" received over 4 million views in just 2 days. In 2007, Chris Crocker was a YouTube sensation. Since his videos launched, references to his insanity have appeared in shows in such as "Glee" and "South Park". Six years later, Chris Crocker adopted an entire new look. Crocker has reconsidered pounds of makeup and is looking more masculine than ever these days. Although the YouTube super star has refrained from making more videos, he still can't keep his face away from the camera. Recently, Chris Crocker has begun modeling for American Apparel, and the photos are cuter than ever. Check them out here.

2. William Hung

Pioneer of the concept "going viral", 2004 American Idol reject William Hung was the internet's biggest trend. Hung's "She Bangs" was known and seen by everyone and anyone. But just like everyone suddenly fell in love with the 30 year old superstar, they quickly moved on. Nowadays, Hung has moved on from his career as a pop- culture icon to pursue law enforcement. Replacing dance numbers and record studios with crime scenes and finger prints, he now works for the Los Angeles County Sheriff Department as a statistical analyst. The once world- renowned pop star has evidently shifted in direction, (for the better?)

3. Tara Reid

Drooling over Tara Reid's bombshell bliss was a definite past time. If you hadn't noticed her good looks during her big break in 1999's "American Pie", perhaps you had the pleasure of seeing it in "American Pie 2" and "American Pie Reunion". Since her appearance on the big screen, Reid has been in and out of rehab several times for her love of liquor. The actress is most recently known for her role as a gold digger. Tara Reid is reportedly dating 60 year old Fawaz Gruosi, the founder of a Swiss jewelry entity.

4. Christopher Lloyd

If watching "Back to The Future" has made you familiar with the popular term Great Scott, you can thank 75 year old actor, Christopher Lloyd. The two- time Emmy winner never failed to impress on the big screen. Despite his old age, Lloyd is still doing what he does best! His latest work included two sitcom roles as well as on the big screen in the 2012 horror comedy "Piranha 3D".

5. Wilmer Valderrama

Best known for his role as Fez in "That 70's Show", this actor was everyone's favorite. While still pursuing his career as an actor, Wilmer Valderrama has become a huge social activist! This talented young man is all for helping others in any way that he can. Valderrama is now the spokesperson for This Shirt Helps, which is a movement geared to provide help to a variety of different causes. As well, he is the co- founder of Voto Latino, an organization that serves to introduce new voices in politics. Unfortunately, this hottie isn't single. After getting in an out of relationships, "That 70's Show" actor is officially dating Disney actress Demi Lovato.

6. Vanessa Carlton

Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles" remained 2002's top hit for quite some time, along with several of her other tracks such as "White Horses" and "Ordinary Day". 10 years ago, Carlton's voice literally owned pop radio. The once famous singer is now 32 years old and very open to opportunity, and all sorts of them. A couple of years ago, Carlton announced to a crowd of 18,000 festival goers at the Nashville Pride Festival that she is a proud bisexual.

7. Hilary Duff

Hilary Duff, best known for her persona as Lizzie McGuire and her role in Cadet Kelly, was every girl's role model at a point in their childhood. Unlike other Disney stars that have moved on to a world of drugs and chaos following their child stardom (hint: Miley Cyrus), Hilary Duff has actually grown to become quite normal. After getting married just over three years ago, Hilary Duff is now the mother of a two year old baby boy.

8. Frankie Muniz

It's been almost 14 years since the popular sitcom "Malcom in the Middle" first aired in 2000. Shortly after the TV series came to an end, Frankie Muniz retired at the age of 19, with $40 million in the bank. Since then, Muniz took up race car driving and was super passionate about it for quite a while. As well, he was engaged... twice. Now, the 27 year old is a drummer in "Kingsfoil", an indie rock band.

It's been a bumpy ride for some of these once incredibly famous individuals, with drugs and jail for some and babies for others. Are there any other famous people who you wonder about today? Let us know in the comments!

9. Nelly

Whenever anyone began to complain about the heat, you could almost always find yourself responding with: "so take off all your clothes"- all thanks to Nelly's "Hot in Herre". Nelly pretty much owned pop radio during the early 2000's. Nowadays, however, his popularity seems to have deteriorated. Did you know that after 14 years Nelly released his seventh album just about a month ago, titled 'M.O?' Yeah, neither did we. Aside from Nelly's new album remaining mostly under the radar, the rapper hasn't been doing so well himself. Just a year ago, the 37 year old artist was detained for carrying over 10 pounds of marijuana, 36 dime bags of heroin and a caliber pistol. Poor Nelly. In all seriousness though, if listening to Nelly's "Dilemma", featuring Kelly Rolland gives you nostalgic chills, check out his new album here.
