Let’s start off with the one I am most qualified to write about: being a writer! I’m right here in my bed writing this. Bet you thought I had a desk, didn’t you? No need! My theory is that all your best ideas happen when you’re close to the land of nod. I mean, what better way to get those creative juices flowing than in the comfort of your own bed?
There are plenty of ways you can write. You might be freelancing for a publication, or writing a blog, or a book. Maybe you even want to specialize: educational writing, writing about a specific niche. It’s just a medium - you can do with it what you want.
2. Translator
Don't ignore your knowledge of multiple languages, being bilingual is a skill set not everyone possesses. In an amazing multi-lingual city like Montreal, don't miss an opportunity to leverage your abilities. You might think that everybody can speak multiple languages but this is definitely not the case. As globalization continues to bring people together, creating an intersection of cultures, customs and languages, opportunities to put your skills to use are abundant!
Dust the cobwebs off your old language dictionaries from high school because there is no reason you can’t be a translator from right there on your mattress, translating articles, essays or videos.
3. Etsy Store Owner
Okay, get ready: this is a multi-pronged bed attack. Not only can you craft some amazing things while in bed (knitting Pokemon, sewing bags, drawing some sweet Game of Thrones fan art), but your bed can also be your photo studio.

4. Developer
Did you know that some of the biggest tech companies in the world work remotely? That’s right: It’s time to get your nerd on.
Awesome companies like Buffer, Upworthy, Kissmetrics, Meet Edgar, Microsoft, Apple, Mozilla, Automattic and more all have remote roles, and some companies are 100% remote. We are living in the future for realsies!
While you don’t need to be a developer to work remotely for all these companies, it does help because there are loads of remote roles for those in dev. Whether you’re a web developer, app developer or game developer, the perfect office involves Cheetos on the sheets.
5. Tutor
In a city like Montreal, bursting with uni students, did you ever consider offering to tutor right from your home? That’s right - you can be an online tutor! Whether you’re skyping in calls, editing essays or helping find study materials, you can be a tutor from your own home. And, of course, you don’t just need to provide your services locally - if you have a knack for a particular subject, you could tutor people from all over the world. Thank you, internet!
6. Virtual Assistant
Have you heard of virtual assistants? A virtual assistant is an administrative or personal assistant who works for clients online. Love organizing things? Perfect! What about research? Or bookkeeping? Great! The best part of being a virtual assistant is that you can specialize in the tasks you are awesome at - whether it’s creating social media content or social events! 9. Airbnb Aficionado
Since we’re talking about side-hustles, you don’t actually need to put in a lot of hours to earn some cash. Just place an ad online! If you’ve got a spare bedroom (with a gorgeous mattress ready to go), then why not rent out your spare room on Airbnb? Meet some new folks and earn some cash.
