A Canada-Themed Episode Of The "The Simpsons" Featuring Justin Trudeau Is Coming This Week

This Sunday's episode of The Simpsonswill feature a storyline in which Lisa falls victim to Canada's generosity and is granted asylum during a Simpsons family vacation to Niagara Falls, according to the CBC.

An animated version of beleagured Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau, voiced by journalist Lucas Meyer, will make an appearance in the episode.

Meyer took to Twitter to share the news. Apparently, his 2017 impressions of Trudeau somehow made its way to showrunners.

TL;DR This Sunday's episode of The Simpsons will feature a storyline in which Lisa falls victim to Canada's generosity and is granted asylum during a Simpsons family vacation to Niagara Falls, according to the CBC.

A Simpsons producer told the CBC that the show will likely satirize the prime minister's  conduct in the ongoing SNC-Lavalin scandal.

Viewers can probably expect the upcoming episode, entitled "D'Oh Canada," to make use of Canadian stereotypes to criticize the country and Americans' perception of it.

The episode will air on Citytv in Canada, according to the National Post.

Watch Meyer's impression of Trudeau in the video below. It begins around the one-minute mark. The journalist certainly has Trudeau's inflections and pauses down.

In recent years, The Simpsons has taken on perhaps more of a political charge as it participates in, and capitzalizes on, the ongoing political turmoil in North America.

The humiliating spectacle of the Trump administration fits right in with The Simpsons' comedic line.
