A Quebec IGA is open again Monday after temporarily closing following what Sobeys calls a "significant community outbreak." The IGA extra Veilleux & Filles in Lévis announced the closure on April 24. "Despite the application of the health and safety measures recommended by the Public Health Department, a portion of our employees were unfortunately infected," it wrote on its Facebook page.
"Without delay, we immediately isolated these employees and any other employee who may have been in contact with them and proceeded with the complete disinfection of the store by a certified firm."
On its website, Sobeys, the parent company of IGA, stated that "the last day the last employee who had tested positive worked was April 21, 2020."
The CBC reports that a total of 19 workers tested positive.

The franchise assures customers that the store has been thoroughly cleaned.
"During the night of Friday to Saturday, we mandated a specialized and approved cleaning firm to proceed with the complete disinfection of the store."
"The safety of our customers and employees being our priority, we have reinforced our hygiene and safety measures in order to reduce any risk for our customers and employees."
Measures already in place at IGA locations across Canada include Plexiglass at checkout points, "floor markers" to "help facilitate a two-metre distance between customers," the closure of self-serve areas, and hand-washing every 15 minutes for employees.
Sobeys publishes a complete list of franchises that have had confirmed cases of COVID-19.
Since the beginning of April, the company has reported over 40 infection events in Quebec, though some locations appear on the list more than once.
Cases are removed from the list after 28 days.
"We will continue to update the COVID-19 tracker [...] to be transparent with you where we have been notified of cases of COVID-19 in our stores," Sobeys writes.
"We will always do everything we can to support our teammates and ensure their safety. Where required, we will communicate with customers who have shopped in the impacted location, with store signage, outlining our steps to manage the situation."
