In this wellness-crazed and "clean eating" world we currently live in, it was only a matter of time before fast food restaurants started to follow suit.
Although fast food franchises are probably the last thing that comes to mind when you think of "clean eating," getting on board the conscious-eating trend is now vital not just to the success of these businesses, but to their survival in the North American market.
TL;DR A&W Canada just announced that they will be the first national burger chain to eliminate all processed cheese and serve real Cheddar cheese on their burgers, made without artificial flavours, colours, or preservatives.
That is because conscious and locally-sourced eating is not just a fleeting trend or temporary lifestyle movement, it's an entirely new way of living many people are adopting for good.
That said, A&W is setting the bar way up high for fast food companies, as they already provide their customers with high-quality, locally-sourced ingredients and products.
For example, their beef patties are made from 100% pure beef raised without the use of hormones or steroids. Their bacon is from pork raised without the use of antibiotics.
To set the bar up even higher, A&W just announced that "A&W Food Services of Canada will be the first national burger chain to eliminate all processed cheese and serve real Cheddar cheese."
The cheddar cheese you will find on all A&W burgers will be "made without artificial flavours, colours, or preservatives" and also use "100% Canadian milk."
A&W burgers already taste like a little piece of heaven to me. And I always thought the quality of the patty destroyed the competition. Now that the cheese has been upgraded, I'm even more excited to take a bite into a big, juicy Teen Burger.
Great job A&W Canada on setting the bar high for other fast food companies across the country!
