It seems every day there is a new tragic happening in the news - and lots of em are coming from our own city. 

Ariel Jeffrey Kouakou, a 10-year old boy has gone missing this week, and a city-wide Amber Alert was issued yesterday just be to withdrawn around 11 PM the same night. 

Ariel Jeffrey Kouakou has not been found, but sadly he does not "meet the criteria" to keep his Amber Alert active. 

These are the requirements for an Amber Alert: 

• The child must be under 18
• Authorities must suspect the child has been abducted
• The child is in imminent danger
• Information is available to help locate the child or abductor(desc. of child, suspect or abductor's vehicle)

“Normally an Amber alert is activated when we have a description of an abductor, a getaway vehicle,” said police spokesperson Laurent Gingras. “This is information we didn’t have in this case.” 

Ariel Jeffrey Kouakou's Amber Alert has been raised because the authorities do not have enough evidence to believe this is an abduction, despite their mother's assumption and belief of this matter. 

Authorities are trying to accumulate as much information from the public as possible. 

Here is what we know for now:

• Last seen in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville going to a friends house Monday afternoon
• He is 10 years old
• He is 4 ft 6 in
• He has black hair and dark eyes
• He weighs 90 lbs
• He was last wearing a black hooded coat, grey pants and yellow shoes.

Montreal police spoke to a woman who said she may have seen the boy at a park around 2 PM on Monday. 

"At 2 p.m. Monday, a lady might have seen the missing person in a park which is close to his home and his friend's home," Montreal police spokesperson Ian Lafreniere said.

"It makes sense because he left home at 12:30... and the park is right in the middle. We believe this is accurate, but we need to speak to this lady because it was reported to us, but we haven't spoken to her."
