Montreal is world renowned for having amazing graffiti murals. Local artists have been using spray paint to cover the boring empty facades of building for years now. But what if there was an environmentally friendly alternative to all that pressurized paint? What if there was a way you could paint ... with moss.

Amazingly enough, some artists have devised a technique they call 'eco-graffiti' which allow you to grow your own murals out of moss.

Follow these simple steps and you'll be creating your own masterpieces in no time. Here's what you'll need:

  1. A handful of moss
  2. 2 cups of buttermilk or plain yogurt
  3. 2 cups of beer or water
  4. 1/2 tsp. sugar
  5. Corn syrup

After you've found your moss, wash out as much dirt and soil and you can and put it in a blender.

Add the rest of the ingredients, blend it into a paste (be careful not to overblend) and you have yourself some genuine homemade moss-paint.

Now just pour the mixture in a bucket, grab a brush and you're ready to paint. Once your creation is done, be sure to check on it like you would any garden plant and make sure to keep spraying it with water to help it grow.

After a bit of practice you'll be able to create your own eco-friendly graffiti:
