"Bandersnatch" Was So Hard To Make That The Next Season Of Netflix's Black Mirror Is Officially Delayed

On January 1st, I partook in a the collective New Year's Day tradition of laying in bed and doing absolutely nothing but being passively entertained by all the wonderful content available on Netflix. It was pure heaven.

What made it even better was the recent release of Black Mirror's first ever full-length "film" Bandersnatch, which debuted on December 28th, right in time for the holidays.

TL;DR The creators of the series have officially announced that, due to the extreme complexity of creating Bandersnatch, the highly anticipated fifth season of Black Mirror will be delayed for an undetermined period of time.

I thought I'd give it a shot — let me tell you, it's worth every minute. Although not the most relaxing show to watch when nursing a hangover, it's definitely entertaining. And as the first "choose your own adventure" series on Netflix, it's completely ground breaking.

Once you actually watch it, you will quickly realize the insane complexity and work that must have gone into conceptualizing, creating, and executing a "choose your own adventure" show. The episode's average run time is 90-minutes, but the total amount of potential content is 5 hours.

The episode demonstrates this in a very meta fashion, as the main character of the story is developing his own "choose your own adventure" video game, the complexity of which is so great, it sends him quickly into an existential downward spiral, and eventually into total psychosis.

It's like a "choose your own adventure" story locked inside another "choose your own adventure." Am I boggling your mind yet?

Such a tease.

Bandersnatch was so incredible, it really got my brain tingling for more ever-satisfying and spooky Black Mirror stories.

Guess we will have to wait...
