7 Beaches You Can Have A Picnic At Less Than One Hour Away From Montreal

There is nothing I love more in the summer than a good picnic on the beach. Lucky for us here in Montreal, we have plenty of cute beaches to pick from!
What better way to catch up with friends and spend a lazy day in the sun than with great food and drinks in a beautiful spot? Even if you're not much of a cook, you can grab some take-out or prepared food from your local supermarket.
There's just something so enjoyable about laying out multi-coloured throws and towels and setting up an array of foods to share. You might not find the ocean, but definitely stretches of sand plus water activities like kayaking, pedal boats, and canoeing.
Below, I've listed some of the best spots where you just have to go and enjoy a picnic this summer.
1. Plage de Saint-Zotique
It's less than an hour away from the West Island and features a huge sandy beach, a friendly swimming area, and lots of nature fun. There are also BBQ facilities, tennis courts, a snack bar, and a great tropical feel to be enjoyed by all.
2. Plage de Saint-Timothée
Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec
There's a nice sandy beach, a picnic area, and plenty of water sports to pick from. The park also has a chalet service with snack bar and restrooms, perfect for thatultimate picnic experience.
3. Plage Jean Doré
This isn't just a beach - it's an island full of fun activities, just minutes from your front door! You can enjoy not only the beach, but the island, the facilities, and there's even free wifi, so you can post those Instagram photos in full tranquility.
4. Clock Tower Beach
Located at the foot of the Clock Tower, the entrance to the Old Port, this beach is perfect if you're looking for a more sophisticated and luxurious picnic. The beach offers amazing seated areas, fine sand, chairs, and parasols to enjoy an awesome day in the sun.
5. Oka Beach
Oka is a lovely large stretch of sand and activity, offering the perfect spot for picnics under the shade of the forest. This popular historical site fills up quick, so get there early.
6. Cap Saint Jacques Beach
Located on the island, between the Lake of Two Mountains, this lovely beach has volleyball nets, a snack bar, aquatic activities, and tons of nature trails, as well as lost of space to set up your picnic.

Minutes from your house, plus full of events and artistic decorations, this is a great place to picnic on a whim with the many food trucks stationed near by!
