Beer Is Being Recalled In Canada For Containing Sharp Metal Pieces

There's been quite a few recalls on food recently that could bring potential harm to the public. Luckily, most of the recalls were caught right away and no one suffered any illness or injury for the most part. But what if instead of the actual product, it was the packaging it came in? And what if people were actually getting hurt?

Well, a Canadian beer is being recalled for just that. Apparently there's sharp metal sticking out from the rim of the can, causing anyone taking a drink to be in for an unpleasant surprise.

Bowen Island Brewing is recalling two of their products: Artisan IPA (Indian Pale Ale) and West Coast Lager for containing the hidden metal. As of now the recall is only being announced for Alberta and British Columbia, but you may want to pay better attention to your beer before drinking in the future.

If you look closely at the image above, you'll see just one of the sharp metal "needles" along the rim of the beer can. Now imagine a dozen or more of those lining the can when you take a sip. This seriously does not end well.

The worst part is people are actually getting injured from the recalled product. The metal shards are so small that you can only really see them if you pay close attention. It's probably not the first thing on your mind when you're drinking, so it's easy to believe quite a few people have already been hurt by the beer can.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is currently conducting a safety investigation which may end up leading to other recalled products. If you happen to have this product at home, you can either throw it away or take it back to the retailer for a refund.
