Anytime is the perfect time to treat yourself, your friends, your significant other, or maybe even that person you’re hoping will become your significant other, because nothing brings people together quite like sharing some delicious chocolate. And hey, some doctors even say it’s healthy for you.

1. Suite 88

Operating as a chocolate lounge, Suite 88 makes small batches of chocolate to ensure freshness, using products from Belgium, France and Switzerland. Their menu includes everything from hot chocolate, to gelato, to biscotti fondue, making it a great place to grab a delicious dessert.

Always dreamed of having dessert for dinner? Then Cacao 70 is the place to go. With chocolate covered waffles, crepes, and even personal-sized fondu sets, you can’t really go wrong here. But what you don’t want to miss is their hot chocolate menu with 15 different flavours from all over the world.

If you’re looking to get that special someone (or your mom) a really nice box of chocolates, then Leonidas is the place to go. Originally opened in NYC in 1991, Leonidas offers a wide range of flavours, from classic milk chocolate to orangettes, as well as different sized boxes that you can fill yourself or have pre-made for you.

4. Juliette et Chocolat

A Montreal staple, Juliette et Chocolat provides its patrons with endless chocolate options in a sit-down restaurant atmosphere. Their amazing hot chocolates and endless dessert options are only upstaged by their chocolate bar menu, which, laid out like a wine menu, lists all of their chocolate by origin and flavour. It is then served to you melted in a cup, with a spoon on the side.

5. Divine Chocolatier

Divine Chocolatier is perfect for any weather, selling both hot chocolate and ice cream. However, what you really have to try is their dark chocolate truffle. There’s a reason The Gazette named it the “Best Truffle” in the greater Montreal area.

6. Cocoa Locale

Sitting just south of Saint-Joseph, this tiny chocolate bakery has its chocolate delivered straight from France. It is then turned it into some of the tastiest treats you will ever have. Here you can find cupcakes and brownies, but what they’re really known for are their cakes. If you’re planning on going, make sure you get there early because once they’re sold out, that’s it for the day.

Specializing in what they call “bean-to-bar” chocolate, Miss Choco has products from all over the world, including Vietnam, Mexico, and even Toronto. Their ‘chocolat chaud intense’, which is essentially a shot of really dense hot chocolate, is not to be missed. But the best part of Miss Choco? You can sample ANY of the chocolates!

Les Chocolats de Chloé is a quaint establishment with quality product. Here you can find fresh truffles, bars, biscotti, and endless other chocolate related products. While the products may be a little pricy, you’ll forget all about that after you take your first bite.

Located on the east side of the plateau, La Maison Cakao is a small chocolate shop selling chocolate bites, jams, and even ice cream. If you’re going to pay them a visit, you have to try their amazing chocolatey, fudge-y brownie. It’s quite the decadent treat.

10. Geneviève Grandbois

To anyone in search of exotic chocolate flavours, this is the spot for you. Geneviève Grandbois offers a wide range of flavours from a Balsamico chocolate (a balsamic flavoured ganache), to a Piment chocolate (infused with 3 kinds of chilli peppers), and even a Chai chocolate (infused with indian tea, ginger, pepper, star anise and cardamom).
