Best Montreal Christmas Desserts

Indulge in some Xmas sweetness.
Best Montreal Christmas Desserts

In just a few short days Christmas will be here, which means the time of the year when you can indulge in all sorts of holidays sweets will quickly come and go. It's sad, but true, and all of us with intense sweet teeth need to get all of our dessert eating done well before.

Oh so many delicious holiday desserts can be found all around Montreal, but since you're watching your weight this Christmas (as per usual) you should only be eating the best of the best.

So from one dessert-addict to another, here are some of the best Montreal Christmas desserts you simply need to eat this holiday season.

Patisserie Rhubarb's Yule Log

Otherwise known as a "Bûche de Noel," Patisserie Rhubarb is taking the classic Xmas dessert to new levels. Four different flaovurs are available 'til December 31st, with the pictured grapefruit-pistachio looking the most delicious, and colourful.

Léché Desserts Eggnog-Gingersnap Donut

Arguably Montreal's best donut vendor, Léché Desserts is living up to that claim with their delectable selection of Xmas-y donuts. The pictured eggnog gingersap flavour is looking like the best of the bunch to me, although the chocolate peppermint and candy cane crumble sound sublime too.

Rustique's Spiced Hot Chocolate Pie

Nothing beats a good pie, and this St. Henri bakery has them in spades, with flavours ranging from basic apple to something more seasonal like spiced hot chocolate. Rustique is open every day until Christmas, so you can still place orders and get your pie-fix well before Xmas.

Maison Christian Faure's Passion Soleil

One of Montreal's most prestigious bakeries, Maison Christian Faure brings a level of skill to Christmas desserts unseen at many other spots, which the "Passion Soleil" yule log showcases. Bursting with bright colours and vibrant flavours, the Passion Soleil is but one of the many exquisite entries to be found on Maison Christian Faure's holiday menu, which you can read here.

CRémy Pâtisserie Buche de noël au foie gras

Dessert decadence gets taken to new levels at CRémy Pâtisserie, with this layered yule log featuring a shortbread base, an ice cider mousse, foie gras mousseline, and a topping of cherry jelly. And yes, you read that right, foie gras is in this bad boy, making it a veritable must-try.

Hof Kelsten's Panettone

For those who don't know, "panetonne" is kind of like the Italian version of fruit cake, except lighter and more delicious. And just like anything baked at Hof Kelsten, the panettone is utterly amazing, and warrants a try over the holidays.

Sophie Sucrée's Peppermint Shortbread

Vegans have it rough when it comes to holiday desserts, as pretty much every sweet is filled with butter. Thankfully, Plateau vegan bakery Sophie Sucrée is here to the rescue with their selection of desserts, including the vegan peppermint shortbread. Now, shortbread without butter may seem impossible, but that just means you have to taste how amazing Sophie Sucrée's is to be disproven.

La Cornetteria's Panforte

Okay, so my Italian is showing pretty hard on this list, with another Ital-centric dessert gracing this list, namely La Cornetteria's panforte. Even though it's available year-round, panforte (a delicious fruit-nut mixture) is best enjoyed over the holidays, when your diet woes have been cast aside.

Island Organix

Getting a traditional dark rum cake is pretty hard to do in Montreal, unless you order from Island Organix, that is. A classic Caribbean dessert, a dark rum cake is rich and alcoholic, making it double delicious, obviously.

D Liche Cupcakes

When it comes to cupcakes, no one does it better than D Liche, at least in my not-so-humble opinion. Of course, the cupcakerie kicks it up a notch for the holidays with a selection of seasonally decorated sweets, all of which taste as good as they look.
