Best Montreal Gluten-Free Restaurants

True talk: Food is awesome, but less awesome if you have some kind of restriction. I mean, there's nothing worse than craving something more than anything else... and then realizing that you just can't eat it.

Those of you with food intolerances know the struggle. But, thankfully, Montreal has tons of awesome spots to nosh on some fantastic food - gluten-free food included.

1. Point Sans G

6680 Avenue Papineau

Living that gluten-free life? Perfect, because Point Sans G has your back. With a food truck and restaurant on Papineau, this spot is always available to make all of your gluten-free dreams come true.

More than that, though, Point Sans G serves up some seriously legit food. Everything is fresh and tasty, constantly, and you can bank on the fact that no matter how delicious their food is, nothing is served with gluten. Winning? You know it.

2. Zero8

1141 Rue Bélanger

Gluten intolerant? Perfect, because Zero8 is pretty much a utopia for people who have officially broken up with gluten.

Zero8 specializes in serving up some awesome food (like their mind-blowingly amazing steaks and their poutine-style fries, which aren't just fresh and made with high quality ingredients, but are on a whole other level of tasty). Not only do they serve up some mouthwatering gluten-free dishes, but they place special emphasis on minimizing the use of most foods that people might be sensitive to. Meaning that no matter who you dine with, there's a meal for them at Zero8.

3. Nini Meatball House

1752 Rue Notre-Dame O

If you're looking for a spot-on place to enjoy a wide variety of delicious gluten-free dishes, then you need to stop looking. You've found Nini Meatball House.

This Saint-Henri spot specializes in - you guessed it - meatballs. But not just any meatballs, guys. These things are seriously juicy, cooked to perfection, and bursting with flavour. Although the whole menu is not gluten-free, they have a huge selection of gluten-free options. Like their spicy tomato sauce veal parmigiana meatballs, which are like little morsels of pure awesome.

4. Grenadine

Restaurant Grenadine

True talk, bring your own wine restaurants are ace - and Grenadine is legit one of the best bring your own wine restaurants in the whole city.

This spot focuses on serving up some of the freshest, tastiest, and most unique French dishes that you've ever tried (like foie gras creme brulee), all for super fair prices. For those of us who are gluten-free and still want to taste Grenadine's delights? No problem. This spot is ace at accommodating gluten-free diets; meaning that you can indulge as much as you want.

5. L'Artisan

7700 Rue St-Hubert

Love pastries? Awesome. Sadly, if you're gluten-free, pastries might not be as readily available to you as you'd like.

Unless you know about L'Artisan. Honestly, the pastries here are amazing - but my own personal favourite delights from this spot? Their eclaires. Creamy, crunchy, and coated with the tastiest chocolate you've ever tried, their eclaires are a thing of beauty... Although, to be fair, you could say that about any one of the (gluten-free!) pastries here.

6. Arepera Du Plateau

4050 Rue de Bullion

Honestly, arepas might just be the best food ever invented. They're like little corn envelopes of happiness, stuffed with actual magic.

Of course, the arepas at Arepera Du Plateau are on a whole different level of awesomeness. They're made fresh, with a crunchy, crispy exterior and a fluffy, moist, yummy interior. The fillings are always vibrant, fresh, and tasty; and the best part is that tons of them are straight-up gluten-free. So, gluten-free friends, rejoice.

7. Le Sain Bol

5095 Rue Fabre

Although not strictly gluten-free, Le Sain Bol is one of your best bets for enjoying a gluten-free meal in Montreal.

Their food is seriously fresh, tasty, and made from super high-quality ingredients - which means that no matter what you pick, you know you're in for a good time (although, protip? Try the salmon gravlax). Oh, and don't forget to mention it if you suffer from some kind of dietary restriction: Sain Bol can accommodate anyone with a gluten intolerance, meaning you can feast in peace.

8. Petit Lapin

342 Avenue Victoria

Gluten-free pastries on point, life on point. And the gluten-free pastries at Petit Lapin? So, totally on point.

Of course, Petit Lapin doesn't just focus exclusively on gluten-free cookies, cakes, cupcakes, and other awesome, tasty pastries. Their selection of sweets exclude things like lactose, eggs, and nuts, so that no matter what you can't have... well, you can still enjoy something delicious at Petit Lapin.

9. Spanel

1960 Rue Notre-Dame O

Lovers of crepes, this one's for you.

This Little Burgundy restaurant specializes in one thing: Crepes, and seriously good ones at that. The crepes themselves are super fresh, served steaming hot and the perfect crepe consistency (crepsistency?) - but that's not even the best part. The best part is what they fill them with. Weather you're into salty or sweet, this eatery has got something to satisfy you.

Plus, their huge selection of gluten-free crepes is perfect for those of us who are not BFFs with gluten.
