Best Montreal Pierogi Restaurants

Even in a city with as many great finger foods as Montreal, pierogi stand out. The delicious dumplings are filled with any number of tasty ingredients, boiled, then baked or fried to perfection. Their small size makes them perfect for snacking, and we often chow down on quite a few at once. We tried all sorts of variations on the pierogi around the city, but a few of them particularly endeared themselves to us. Here are the best Montreal Pierogis.

Euro-Deli Batory
This place is loaded with yummy Polish foods, like sausages and sandwiches, but our favorite offering is the pierogi. It’s jam-packed with delicious fillings like cheese, potato, cabbage, mushrooms, and meat. Order them on their own, or get them as part of their Polski Talerz for two, which comes with other tasty items like goulash and stuffed cabbage.
Patisserie Wawel
Come to this store for a seemingly endless supply of homemade pierogi. Not only are their pierogi great, but they’ve got a sign on their store claiming that they have “The Best Donuts in the World,” and we'd have a hard time disagreeing. Order a bunch of apricot flavored ones, and you’ll be in dessert heaven.
Chopin
Looking to take some pierogi home with you? This place has what you need. They sell frozen pierogi in batches of a dozen, all filled with yummy ingredients. If you’re craving savory pierogi, you can get their delicious sauerkraut and mushroom-filled ones; however, if you’re in a dessert sort of mood, you can have them with sour cherries or strawberries. Save some for a friend, or, like us, eat them all while you binge on Netflix.

Euro Polonia
We’ve already talked about how much we love their food truck, but their brick-and-mortar location is equally great. They make their own pierogi, and they offer them filled with unique ingredients like kasha or bacon. The dough is perfectly chewy, giving way to an inside that’ll blow you away.

Restaurant Cracovie
Whether you’re a vegetarian or a full-blooded carnivore, this place has a pierogi to suit your fancy. Try one of their cheese and potato or mushroom and sauerkraut concoctions, or, if you’re not a veggie, check out the meat-filled one. Save room, because you’ll want a slice of their indulgent cheesecake afterwards.
Stash Cafe
If you’re walking through the Old Port and happen to have a pierogi craving, this restaurant has your back. They offer them as both an appetizer and a main, but, if you’re anything like us, you’re going to want to order the biggest portion you possibly can. Either way, you can get them with one of three delicious fillings, and both orders come with loads of sauerkraut and sour cream.

Tuck Shop
This restaurant has a seasonal menu, so you can’t always order their pierogi, but you’ll definitely want to get it whenever you can. They serve it as part of a Russian food extravaganza that also comes with salmon and borscht. However, even if they’re not offering it when you go, you’ll definitely find something to suit your needs more than adequately, such as their hummus.
Bistro Europa
You can find all manner of Eastern European delicacies at this bistro, but the pierogi is our favourite. They’re chewy and bursting with flavour, just the way you like them. Still, you’re definitely going to want to save room for their schnitzel, which is among the city’s best.

Balkani
Pierogis are just one of the many delicious offerings you’ll find at this market. Whether it’s tasty meat, decadent cheese, or a yummy dessert you’re looking for, Balkani has got something for you. You could also go healthy and pick up some kefir, but we’d prefer to pig out.

Zytynsky’s Deli
Pronouncing their name is a struggle, but eating their pierogis is not. They’re stuffed with cheese, and they simply melt in your mouth. These guys import many of their foods from locations around Eastern Europe, and you can taste the authenticity in every bite.
