It's Christmas time in Montreal soon, and that means Christmas parties, and more importantly, Ugly Sweater parties! This time-honoured tradition invites kindred spirits to find the ugliest garment possible and gather round so that everyone can point and laugh at each other. Wait, why do we do this? Regardless, chances are you have at least one ugly sweater party to attend this year (we know we do) and finding one is as easy as consulting this list. Happy hunting!Vintage 111, as the name implies, carries a wide range of vintage cloathing and accessories. Now the cool kids will tell you that all the best things in life are vintage, but really vintage is just another way of saying old. And where there is old stuff, there are usually some ugly sweaters. Plus, when people ask about your sweater, you can tell them it's vintage.
Village des Valeurs
Village des Valeurs is literally a village full of value and the absolute kings for ugly stuff and other more or less useful second-hand crap, including hideous sweaters! It's a big place so you will have to do some hunting, but it also means you are pretty much guaranteed to walk out with that ugly sweater you never wanted.
The Sally Ann not only gives hope and support to vulnerable people in 400 communities across Canada, but they also carry a whole lotta ridiculous sweaters that somebody, at some point actually wore because they thought it was fashionable. Thankfully they realized one day that it was not, and now it can be all yours.
2015 St. Laurent
If you've never been in to Eva B, the vibe alone is worth the trip. Part boutique, part costume store, with a bar and a stage, Eva B has got everything the modern hipster is looking for, including sweaters, though they might not consider them ugly. Either way, Eva B has got you covered for some Kandinsky-inspired sweaters that are sure to make your eyes bleed.

Cul-de-sac means dead end, or sac of ass if badly translated, but this vintage store does carry some cool, vintage stuff. Anything from record players, to recycled fur, you can often find some unsightly sweaters and tops here that will make you wonder how on earth anyone ever wore it seriously.
56 St. Viateur W
Another vintage store, another ugly sweater. Located in the Mile End, Annex Vintage unsurprisngly collects all the hipster leftovers of residents in the area. But be grateful, because thanks to them, you will have the ugliest sweater of all the ugly sweaters!

This tiny shop is a bit limited for selection, but they do have some pretty funky pieces sometimes. It's worth checking out for some grotesque knitted wear if you happen to be in the neighbourhood.

Citizen Vintage is bit more on the trendy side of things, if that's even possible for a vintage store located in the Plateau, as they hand select all their pieces with a focus on current trends. That said, you will find some some sweaters to fit the bill, and even with a choice of size in some cases.
Lost & Found
The old idiom says that one person's garbage is another's treasure and that holds true in Lost & Found. Rare and ecclectic items aside, Lost & Found offers lots of random clothes among which you can sometimes find a sweater you will only ever wear under the pretense of it being an ugly one.
Les Folles Alliées
365 Mont Royal E
The store front alone should tell you that what awaits you inside is at least one ugly sweater and then some. Les Folles Alliées has been in business for over 15 years and the carefully curated collection dates mostly from the 70's and 80's, often times including some designer gems. Fingers crossed for a name brand sweater that's wonderfully dreadful.

Empire Exchange is a women's boutique, but that's okay because either you're a girl, or you don't mind dressing in women's clothing for that extra effect. Either way, Empire Exchange offers a massive selection of all kinds of interesting things and as Montreal's only dedicated buy/sell/trade clothing store, you can trade in last year's ugly sweater for an even uglier one this year. It's win/win.
