Alright, friends, who here is down for a poutine? Honestly, I know my hand is raised high into the air right now. There's something about winter that makes me crave the fries, gravy and cheese; and I know that I'm not alone in this one.

Poutine is probably the ultimate winter food in and of itself, but you know what makes it one step better? The toppings, my friend. The delicious, hearty toppings, that make a regular poutine into an amazing poutine. And when a poutine is so hearty, so comforting, that it makes you forget all about the frozen tundra that is Montreal in the winter? Yeah. That's pure magic.

At the end of this article, we have included a "Poutine Roulette" to help you pick one of those at random!  Now Read on for 12 Montreal Poutines You Need To Eat This Winter 2016

It's a no-brainer why this is the quintessential winter poutine. 2. La Banquise's La Savoyarde

994 Rue Rachel E

Alright, friends, I don't know about you guys, but in winter, my own personal "melty cheese" cravings shoot up by about 97%. Which is saying a lot, since cheese is basically my obsession. To curb the craving, though? You're going to need to try Banquise's Savoyarde. Piled high with cheese curds and strips of fresh swiss - along with bacon, onions, and a dollop of sour cream - this is probably going to be your go-to poutine to get you through those winter blues.

3. Hippi Poutine's Poutine Mexico

3482 Rue Saint-Denis

Okay, what screams "hearty meal" more than a big, steaming bowl of chili? Maybe slapping a helping of delicious chili on a poutine. Scratch that, actually: definitely slapping a helping of delicious chili on a poutine, and adding in heaps of cheddar for good measure. In the immortal words of Chandler Bing, "Could that poutine be any more comforting?" Which he totally said. Maybe.
