12 Montreal Restaurants You Should 100% Bring A First Date To In NDG

All your best spots under one 'hood.

Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, DG, the hood, whatever you want to call it, surprisingly has a TON of delicious restaurants to bring a first date to. Best part of it is you don't have to go downtown and deal with finding parking, or the traffic to get there. Which is a major PLUS.

So on your next night out with your s/o, or even when you're taking out a girl for the first time, here's a list of dinner restaurants that you NEED to try, if you haven't already in the NDG area.

Prohibition

5674 Av de Monkland

Best brunch spot on Monkland Avenue. Don't even try going after 10:30 a.m. on the weekend, it is jam packed until the afternoon. This place is perfect for a first date breakfast or lunch because it is cozy, warm and conformable. Plus it gets really loud so you won't have to worry about those awkward moments in between subjects.

Gia Ba

5766 Av de Monkland

Most talked about restaurant hidden on Monkland Avenue. Szechuan style brought to you by Andy Su, the mastermind behind this gem. They've got the best hot and sour and taiwanese noodle soup, as well as delicious Yu Xiang eggplant. My recommendation is to try a bit of everything, you will not be disappointed.

5 Saisons Sushi

5594 Rue Sherbrooke O

BYOW. That's english for "bring your own wine". They've got the craziest chef specials with the best sesame home-made sauce. Best part about this place is its located right across a park, and there's plenty of parking sports around the area. The ambience is romantic and it's always full.

Notre-Beouf-De-Grâce

5732 Sherbrooke St. O

Taking fried to another level. I know I said to replace anything fried with greens, but we might have to make an exception here. If you want to impress your date with some meaty burgers, poutine sides and dog sliders (some of us can't resist the fried goodies) than this is the spot to hit the spot.

La Louisiane

5850 Rue Sherbrooke O

Cajun style madness. La Louisiane has been around for over 20 years, and its reputation has been making its mark on Sherbrooke's street ever since. This Cajun/Creole style house has got everything from the hushpuppies appetizers to juicy,  jumbo shrimps. It's truly a delicacy and perfect for a night out to wine and dine.

Taverne

5555 Av de Monkland

La Taverne de Monkland. Everything on the menu is worth tasting, literally - everything. They are famously recognized for their insane mac and cheese, and also serve a delicious variety of pastas, tartar and meats. Their desserts are tasty and sweet, and they even have a "late night" menu with bite size pizzas and other fried foods to keep the night going while you're getting your drink on.

mikado

Mikado

5515 Av de Monkland

Mi Casa es Su Casa. That's spanish for "my home is your home", which represents the atmosphere inside this sushi house, located right off Monkland and Girouard. It's got this intimate feel to it, with the bar located at the end of the restaurant facing an open concept kitchen. Their sushi rolls are delicious, always fresh, and the chefs specials are out of this world! A must-go-to in my books.

Lucille's Oyster Dive

5626 Av de Monkland

Who hasn't heard of Lucilles? Although the restaurant is smaller than your usual evening spot, the ambiance is always bumping. Even if you're crammed at the bar, or have a high table sitting on stools, you will have a blast. They've got oysters from all around the East and West Coast, and the craziest Bloody Caesars, lobster rolls, and seafood madness.

slang

Slang

5669 Av de Monkland

Located right across Lucille's on Monkland Ave. Fairly new, Slang has made its mark on Monkland' go-to restaurants. Their products are catered to the season, which make for fresh ingredients at all times. The general tao calamari, eggplant parmesan and the flank steak are a few of their specialities.

Al Dente

5768 Av de Monkland

Another BYOW. Al Dente holds its authenticity with its very warn decor making it look like an italien styled living room. The lights are dimmed, with candles at each table - making for a very intimate and inviting ambiance. Their risotto and pizzas are a must to try out if you haven't been here before.

gryphon

Gryphon d'Or

5968 Av de Monkland

A tea party for two. Skip out on dinner, and have a tea party! They've got an unbelievable selection of teas, from chai to green to pretty much anything your heart desires. Their dessert menu is also to die for.
