9 Mind Blowing Rooftop Terrasses In Montreal You Need To Discover This Summer
Best #views in the city.
I don't think I've ever been so happy to utter these words, but terrasse season is officially here! After a long hard and gruelling winter, we all collectively deserve a pitcher of sangria or raspberry mojitos on a rooftop.
Good thing that Montreal provides not only some incredible courtyard terrasses - which I have written - that makes you feel like your drinking in someone's beautiful backyard.
But - we also have our fair share of stunning rooftop terasses all boasting their own unique appeal of views of the water and Montreal skyline. Here is the best of the best for dining and drinking on a rooftop in Montreal.
9. Club Lacite
Where: 3575 Park Ave
Why you should go: Club Lacite is a gym and fitness club with a rooftop pool with a swim-up bar located in the heart of the Mcgill Ghetto/downtown. The best part is you don't actually need a membership to access the pool, you can just buy a day pass. It gets busy on those really hot summer days, so get there early.
8. Hotel Nelligan
Where: 106 Saint-Paul St W
Why you should go: This is probably the most iconic of all rooftop terrasse in Montreal. It's on top of the Hotel Nelligan in the Old Port and provides some of the most stunning views of the Old Port and the downtown skyline.
7. Tokyo Bar
Where: 3709 St Laurent Blvd
Why you should go: This terrasse isn't just an outdoor one, it's rooftop. Oh, and it's a double-decker. Tokyo is a long-standing St-Laurent club that is still going strong and hosts some of the most fun day BBQ parties in the summer. Their terrasse is also open at night during warmer months, so you can dance and drink while enjoying the balmy summer air.
6. Complexe Sky
Where: 1478 St Catherine St E
Why you should go: One of Montreal's most frequented gay nightclubs, Complexe Sky, which already features three full floors, gets an upgrade once the warm weather hits and the rooftop terrasse opens. Equipped with its own hot tub (BYOSwimshorts, though), Sky's rooftop is spacious and simply perfect for enjoying one of the club's giant 4L pitchers of sangria.
5. Labo Culinaire
Where: 1201 Saint-Laurent
Why you should go: Feast upon the flavours of summer at the SAT's Terrasses Labo Culinaire Foodlab. Located on the third floor of the SAT building, the menus of the Foodlab are headed by chef Michelle Marek and are always brimming with fresh flavours. Plenty of drink options are also to be enjoyed at the Foodlab's terrasse, including specially selected wines to pair with your meal.
Where: 3781 Saint-Laurent
Why you should go: Saint-Laurent nightlife institution Muzique is known for a lot of things. Some good, some bad. But the best part is their stunning rooftop terrasse. Sleek and modern and one of the best places to party in the summer. The massive line-up you see each weekend is a evidence of that.
3. Terasse Sur L'auberge
Where: 97 De La Commune East
Why you should go: Providing you with an unparalleled view of Old Montreal, Saint Lawrence Rover, and the rest of the city, Terrasse sur L'Auberge, located the roof of the Auberge du Vieux-Port Hotel, is the ideal blend between classy and relaxed. Frequented by tourists and locals alike, Terrasse sur L'Auberge is always a popular choice on sunny days, and even at night for the L'International des Feux Loto-Québec.
2. Terrace Place D'armes
Where: 701 Côte de la Place d'Armes
Why you should go: Known for their raspberry mojitos, Terrasse Place D'Armes is something of a classier lounge-terrasse atop the Hotel Place d’Armes. Overlooking Old Montreal, Terrasse Place D'Armes is open all day and until 3am, giving you the chance to drink from the sunny afternoon well into the night. And don't worry if you're worried about rain, because this seventh-floor terrasse has a retractable awning to shield you from the elements.
1. Terrasse William Gray
Where: 421 Rue Saint-Vincent
Why you should go: This is the stunning terrace of the luxury boutique hotel William Gray, tucked away on the cozy cobblestone streets of the Old Port. Just recently opened in Summer 2016 this stunning terrace is probably one of the sleekest and luxurious in all of Montreal. Perfect for a special summer date or occasion.
