Best Montreal Cannolis
Everyone's favourite Italian treat.
Friends, if you know anything about desserts, the chances are very high that you know about cannoli. These sweet, crisp, delicious Italian pastries are hugely popular and hugely delicious - and, to be honest, they're very hard to make. The textures and flavours have to blend perfectly together; they can't be fried too much or filled too much; they have to be just right, and it takes a master at their craft to get the perfect cannoli.
Luckily, Montreal is full of such masters. The cannoli scene in Montreal is just as vibrant as thescene, and there are tons of amazing, wonderful places for you to go to in order to get your fix of perfect cannoli. But in case you're wondering where to start? Well, then, I've got your back. Read on for Best Montreal Cannoli 2016.
This bakery, located in Little Italy, is widely known as one of the best Montreal spots to get a cannoli - and, friends, you should totally believe the hype on this one. Their shell is crisp and flavoured exquisitely; their ricotta filling is the perfect combination of rich, thick, and decadently sweet; and, overall, the cannoli here are seriously, seriously amazing. Get one (or five) ASAP, friends.
2. La Conca d'Oro
Located in Villeray, La Conca d'Oro might seem like a bit of a trek for some people. But for those of you who live a little bit out of the way, let me just say this: The travel time is more than worth it. One bite of their cannoli, which won Italian Week's "Best Cannoli" award, and you'll be hooked, probably forever. (Protip: Order a dozen. Trust me. You're going to want to share these with all your family and friends... or eat a bunch straight up for yourself.)
3. Patisserie St. Martin
If you've read my list of Best Montreal Zeppole, then you already know how I feel about St. Martin. If not, I'll refresh your memory. St. Martin is always a pit-stop of mine whenever I venture into Laval (which is always, TBH); and my main bae at this pastry shop? Their cannoli. There's something about their shell - not overly sweet and the perfect crisp texture - that ties in amazingly well with their deliciously dense, flavourful ricotta. All in all, if you're in the market for a quality cannoli, you know where to go.
Located in St. Leonard, Alati makes one seriously amazing cannoli. Made fresh to order (so don't despair if you don't happen to see any in the bakery), these Italian delights are pure awesome. The shell is crisp and tasty; the ricotta filling is the perfect combination of decadent-yet-rich; and the whole thing is sweet without being overpowering. You can still taste each individual flavour shine through, bite after bite, despite the fact that everything works in perfect harmony. New fave cannoli spot? Found.
5. Cafe Milano
Alright, straight up, Milano's is my place. I'm there literally all the time (#NoShame), and I've been going there for years - so you can only imagine how many of their cannoli I've tried. (A lot. I've tried a whole lot. Way more than I'd care to admit, actually). But there's a very good reason for my addiction, friends. The cannoli here are mind blowing. The shell is thick yet beautifully crispy, the filling is incredibly decadent, rich, with the perfect sweet-savoury ratio... all in all, the cannoli here are fantastic. Protip: Order one of their awesome espressos, and dip your cannoli in it. Just trust me on this one.
Okay, the cannoli at Montebello are seriously amazing. The crispy, light, cinnamon-y shells are filled with their fresh, homemade ricotta cream - which is deliciously creamy, sweet, and overall amazing. Located in Montreal North, Montebello might be a little ways away for some - but trust me, friends, you're going to want to get there, ASAP.

8. Dolci Piu
The cannoli at Dolci Piu are made fresh when you order them, so you know you're getting something pretty much amazing. Other than being super fresh, though, the cannoli at Dolci Piu are everything a perfect cannoli should be: Sweet, but not overpowering, decadent, crisp, and overall amazing, with beautiful textures and vibrant, fresh flavours. 10. San Marco
Story time: When I was little, my Nonna used to buy the cannoli from San Marco all. The. Time. As a kid, I was literally hooked on these cannoli. I used to scoop out the delicious, sweet ricotta filling and eat it first, and then I'd move on to their flavourful, perfectly cooked shell. Now that I'm an adult, I'm very pleased to announce that these cannoli are even better than I remember them to be... and, yes, I'm pretty much just as obsessed with them.
