A lot of the eclairs here feature super unique flavour combinations - like banana chocolate or strawberry coconut - but they all share one thing in common: with dollops of fresh, sweet cream ensconced in light, delicious choux pastry, these things are pure happiness.
4. Maison Christian Faure
At this stage in the game, I'm pretty sure that every Montreal pastry lover knows about Maison Christian Faure. If you don't, then you need to stop what you're doing right now and get yourself there, ASAP. This pastry shop/school is home to some of the most delicious desserts in Montreal, and their eclairs? To. Die. For. They've got a couple of eclair options for you to choose from, and although my personal favourite is the vanilla strawberry, it doesn't really matter which delicious flavour combination you decide on. They're all super, super delicious.
Alright, I'm just going to get this out of the way right now: the eclairs at L'Artisan are game changing. For just a minute, let's put aside the fact that they're fresh, creamy, and mouthwateringly delicious; let's move on from their awesome flavours, such as coffee, pistachio, and millefeuille (!!), and let's focus on the fact that a good chunk of their eclairs are made without gluten, soya, and other food allergens. Meaning that if you're food-sensitive, then you can still enjoy L'Artisan's delicious contribution to the eclair game. Rejoice, friends. Rejoice.
Okay, any place that features a dark chocolate eclair wins all the points in my book. But when an eclair tastes as good as the one at Marie-Antoinette? Yeah. That's winning on a whole other level, friends. Marie-Antoinette's eclair boasts a delicious, chewy choux-pastry shell, stuffed with a thick, creamy 80% dark chocolate cream filling. Top the whole thing off with their delicious chocolate coating, and you've got a recipe for your new favourite eclair.
7. Pâtisserie Montebello
If your favourite flavour is salted caramel, then have I got some good news for you. The salted caramel eclairs at Montebello? Yeah, they're amazing. This NDG bakery is, in a word, fantastic. Their baked goods are fresh, delicious, and unique (a croissant and cupcake hybrid? I'm totally there for that), so you just know that their eclairs are going to be equally amazing. And, guess what? They are Amazing. Yes, Amazing, with a capital 'A'. The eclair pastry is super airy and chewy; and their filling is a light, sweet cream that just makes you want to smile for days. Trust, these eclairs are on a level all on their own.
10. Duc de Lorraine
Where do I even start with the eclairs at Duc de Lorraine? This Montreal bakery is popular for its delicious crossants, but its eclairs? Yeah, they kind of steal the show. Their eclairs come in both a chocolate and chantilly variety, but no matter which flavour you pick, you're in for a treat. All of their eclairs feature delicious, melt-in-your-mouth cream fillings, dark chocolate coating, and perfectly airy, flawless choux crust.
