Eating a balanced and complete diet is important and can be downright difficult at times. Ya'll remember that food pyramid they taught us about in school, laying out the different food groups and the recommended intake for each. It called for lots of grains, plenty of fruits and veggies, daily dose of protein, a little dairy, some "healthy fats". Simple. The food challenges you are about to read in this list completely and utterly disregard all of that. If you consider your body a temple, these challenges are not for you. If not, YOLO and free t-shirts.
If you consider yourself a poutine lover of any kind, than you owe it to yourself, and the world for that matter, to chow down on Poutineville's 15lbs Heart Attack Poutine. Toppings include chicken, bacon, hot dogs, ground beef, ham, tomatoes, mushrooms, mozzarella, onions and green peppers. The current record is held by a single man that slayed the behemoth in just under 30 mins. He won a t-shirt and his picture on the wall. Bare in mind that the Heart Attack poutine will set you back $70 and, as the name implies, you may need a defibrillator for dessert.
Many people know and love this Irish pub for its laid-back vibe and delicious menu, but McKibbin's also offers customers a deadly food challenge, well at least deadly to your insides. The Ream Reaper Challenge is twelvedoused with the almost-lethal Ghost Pepper, one of the absolute hottest peppers in the world. So hot in fact, that you are required to sign a waiver before eating these bad boys. Eat 'em all within an hour and you earn yourself a free t-shirt and your name on their Wall of Flame. For Sparta!
Best known for their Tex-Mex offerings, El Zaziummm also have a chicken sandwich called Le Monstre, and is it ever. Le Monstre is two pounds of grilled chicken, with tomatoes, grated cheese, guacamole, bacon and lettuce, sandwiched between two pieces of country style bread. Served with fries and a pickle, putting away this beast earns you a free "Mangeur Officiel" t-shirt.
Everyone's favourite aphrodisiacs, oysters are generally pretty easy to slurp up one after the other at say, a 5 a 7, especially with a little bubbly to wash them down, but how about putting away a whopping 40 dozen in one sitting! Over the years, many have impressed with the amount of mollusks they were able to consume at Maestro SVP, but the current record is held by a team of two men who accomplished the feat in 2 hours and 15 minutes. If you dare beat their record, you get all 480 oysters for free. A value of $984 might I add.
