Alright, friends. Poutine week is upon us. Whip out the stretchy pants and prepare to stare disdainfully at your gym as you rush by it on your way to trying a new, delicious poutine.
Of course, for those of us not situated near any one of these participating restaurants, life can be a bit rough. How are you supposed to get your fix of the world's best comfort food if you're pretty far away? Like, say, Montreal's West Island? Well, West Island friends, worry not. The West is full f delicious spots to chomp on poutine. Don't believe me? Well, read on for Best Montreal Poutine Restaurants In The West Island 2016.
1. Burger Town
Can a classic poutine taste so good that it brings you to tears? Apparently, yes. Yes it can. The poutine at Burger Town features that winning combination of french fries, gravy, and cheese curds - but there's just something about their golden, crisp fries, melty cheese, and delicious, flavourful gravy that tastes like actual magic is happening in your mouth. Of course, if you're down to spice it up a little bit, they also offer this delicious dish with chicken or Italian sausage. All the yums? All the yums.
2. Gigi's Pizza
What is it that makes Gigi's poutine so awesome? Is it the crunch of the fries; the delicious, flavourful gravy; or the gooey cheese? Friends, I don't know. What I do know is that it's delicious. Gigi's is one of the more popular pizza joints in the West Island, known primarily for their awesome pizzas - but the next time you stop by to grab a pie - trust me on this - make sure you stock up on their poutine. One bite, and you're hooked.
3. La Roulotte
This classic neighbourhood fast food spot has been serving up some seriously legit comfort food for years. I don't know if it's their experience that makes their poutine so good, or a magical combination of other factors that I have yet to learn about - but whatever it is, La Roulotte serves up one heck of a mean poutine. Their fries are always perfectly crisp, the cheese is squeaky and piled high, the toppings are always fresh, and their sauce is seasoned to perfection and wonderfully hearty. Honestly, I can't even do their poutines justice. You're just going to have to try one out for yourself.
4. Duke & Devine's
Duke & Devine is an Irish pub, which also means that it's the perfect hangout for... well, for pretty much anything. Another thing it's perfect for? Poutine. Their chicken curry poutine, with chunks of tender chicken and smothered in curry sauce, is seriously delicious - as is their filet mignon poutine, which features moist chunks of filet mignon on top of their delicious fries, cheese, and pepper gravy. Don't worry if you can't decide between the two, though. They're so good, you'll be motivated to eat them both.
This fancy eatery offers up one of the most unique and delicious poutines in the city: their Trio Poutine. This dish features three different poutines - like their sweet potato poutine with smoked duck and blue cheese - served up to you on a platter, each one more delicious than the last. If you're in the mood for something seriously delicious, trust: get yourself to Sublime.
6. Le Blaks No 1
Friends, I'm going to be totally honest here: I don't even know where to start with Le Blaks. First of all, the food here? Yeah. Consistently super fresh and delicious - so you just know their poutine is going to be a home run. And guess what? It is. This delicious dish features Le Blaks' crispy and yummy fries, gooey cheese, and flavourful, hearty gravy, all combined to give you a poutine experience you won't soon forget. Fans of poutine, get yourselves here, ASAP.
7. Jukebox Burgers
Although Jukebox is known for its unique burgers, awesome desserts, and delicious mac n' cheese, their poutines are pretty much out of this world as well. They've got a super solid variety of poutines to choose from, but my personal favourite? The Mac & Cheese, which features all your favourite poutine fixings plus Jukebox's very own homemade mac n' cheese.
8. Kitchen 73
Poutine fans, rejoice. You can now have your favourite dish for breakfast, too. Granted, it's not your standard gravy/cheese curds/french fries poutine, but what's life without a little diversity? Plus, Kitchen 73's breakfast poutine is a thing of pure beauty. You've got potatoes, you've got bacon, you've got mozzarella, and you've got an egg to top it all off - and all of this, smothered in their delicious hollandaise sauce. New fave, here we come.
9. Smoke Meat Pete
Okay, first of all, Smoke Meat Pete's smoked meat is out of this world. Seriously, if you've never tried it, you need to stop what you're doing and get yourself some, ASAP. But do you know what else is mouthwateringly amazing? Their poutines, friends. Especially the smoked meat poutine, which combines their yummy sauce, fries, and cheese curds, with chunks of their signature, delicious smoke meat. Just as an aside: Smoke Meat Pete is currently closed for renovations, but that doesn't mean that some of us don't wake up in cold sweats at night craving that saucy, cheesy goodness. Don't forget to follow their Facebook page for updates on their reopening.
10. Station Hot Dog
Alright, let me just say this: yum. Station Hot Dog is known for serving up some amazing hot dogs and some really awesome breakfasts - and, of course, their poutines? Yeah, their poutines are mind blowing. Their dish is smothered in some seriously delicious, thick poutine sauce, which is a really great compliment to the chunky, crispy, and moist french fries. And, of course, the whole thing is covered with a generous helping of fresh and yummy cheese curds, ensuring that their poutine game is taken to a whole other level.
