Best Montreal Trivia Nights

There’s no such thing as a bad night to go out in Montreal, but we particularly love hitting up trivia nights. Drinking is always more fun when you can show off your knowledge while you do it. Even better, if you have lots of knowledge to display, you can get a prize to show for it. Most trivia nights are fun, but you don't want to waste your time at a shitty one. Here are the best trivia nights the city has to offer.

1. Honey Martin

  • When: Tuesdays

Whenever you come here, you’re sure to find a range of NDG citizens, and you can test your smarts against them on Tuesdays. The laid-back atmosphere and formidable range of beers makes for the perfect environment to put your knowledge to the test.

2.Grumpy’s

  • When: Sundays

This place has all sorts of cool events, ranging from jazz jam sessions to comedy open mics, but their Sunday night trivia is our favourite. Enjoy the dive-y feel and tasty selection of draught beers while you try not to get stumped.

3. Ye Olde Orchard (Monkland)

  • When: Mondays

This is the original Orchard location, and they offer a classic trivia night on Mondays that will fulfill all of your quiz game desires. They also have a delicious selection of beers on tap, ranging from cream ales like Boddington's to lagers like Kronenberg, helping you to lower your inhibitions and unlock your hidden knowledge.

4. Bar Le Vestaire

  • When: Mondays

These guys have an amazing trivia night, and they have a range of beers to match. They have an extensive collection of beers from around the province both on tap and in bottles, as well as scrumptious sangria and perfect paninis. Even if you don’t win trivia, you’re sure to have a good night.

5.  Fiddler’s Green

  • When: Sundays

We’ve already talked about how this place is one of the city’s finest Irish pubs, and their trivia night is a big reason for their greatness. They have three rounds of general questions followed by one pop culture round, meaning that contestants with all sorts of interests will have a shot. Even better, they offer their happy hour specials while the trivia happens, allowing you to drink for cheap while you show off your smarts.

6. Brutopia

  • When: Mondays

True to their name, these guys have one of the best selections of beers on tap in the city, and they also have one of the city’s finest trivia nights. The trivia competition is a great way to experience the beer, because the winner of each round gets four free pints. They’ve also got yummy snacks like chorizo nachos, so you’ll be able to get your food in your system to help with the alcohol.

7. Ye Olde Orchard (Plateau)

  • When: Wednesdays

If you think you’re good at trivia, you’ve got to come out to try your skills here. Their Quiz Master, Jay Devine, brings 50 new questions every week that will probably leave you stumped. However, if you’re good enough to finish on top, you’ll claim their $50 bar tab prize. Your points accumulate every week, and, if you have the most points by the end of the season, you’ll win an awesome kegger for you and your buddies.

8.Ye Olde Orchard (Downtown)

  • When: Mondays

Come out to Orchard’s downtown location every Monday night to find a use for your random knowledge. Their expansive 3200 square foot space allows for 200 trivia contestants to be in the bar at the same time, so you’ll have no problem finding competition. Enjoy snacking on their trademark Curry Poutine while you play.

9. McKibbin’s (Bishop)

  • When: Mondays

Check out this bar on Monday nights to compete in their Pub Stumpers trivia league. If you’re lucky, they’ll be serving their famous Baked Potato poutine that night, and you’ll be able to experience its deliciousness while you play. Even better, they have a dance floor upstairs, so you can dance your troubles away if you lose.

10. McKibbin’s (St-Laurent)

  • When: Mondays

Unfortunately, this location doesn’t have much of a dance floor, so you won’t be able to boogie down to ease the pain of losing. However, they do have a solid selection of beers on tap, as well as plenty of widescreen TVs, so you’ll have no problem distracting yourself from the pain of your loss.
