Okay, raise your hand if you're a vegetarian. Now raise your hand if you know a vegetarian. Chances are high that every single person reading this has their hand hanging proudly in the air right now, because friends, Montreal is full people who have made the decision to give up meat for vegetarian meals.
Now, be honest, what goes through your head when I say "vegetarian meals"? Is it, like, a handful of dry rice and exactly one string bean? Is it something slightly more appetizing and less exaggerated for dramatic appeal? Well, whatever it is, friends, it should be delicious. Because vegetarian food deserves all the yum points. And in Montreal, we do it up right. Read on for Best Montreal Vegetarian Restaurants 2015.
ChuChai specializes in Thai dishes. Okay, if you're not a vegetarian, then this might seem a little bit foreign to you. Where's the chicken? Where's the beef!? But worry not, friends. ChuChai cooks up dishes so delicious that you won't even notice you're missing a little bit of meat here or there. Yum? Yum.
2. Mouton Vert
Hey, vegetarian friends, ever crave yourself a souvlaki? Well, guess what: you're covered, all thanks to Mouton Vert. A vegetarian restaurant specializing in Greek/Mediterranean dishes, Mouton Vert offers fresh and tasty treats - and while the best part is undoubtedly the delicious food, the super fair prices don't hurt, either. Protip? Try the "Zuccini Feta" burger. Thank me later.
3. Lola Rosa
Lola Rosa is synonymous with "awesome veg food" in Montreal, and there's a very good reason for that. Namely? Their delicious food. Although their nachos are possibly the best I've ever tasted in my life - the chips are crunchy, the toppings are generous, and everything comes together in a pile of flavourful delight - it would be a disservice to the culinary world if you just tried their nachos. Seriously, branch out. Try everything on the menu. There's absolutely no way you can go wrong at Lola Rosa.
4. Le Réservoir
Alright, the best thing about Réservoir - other than its on point food? The fact that it doubles as a pub. Meaning you can indulge in your favourite veggie dish (avocado mango tacos? Holla at me!), while also indulging in some top quality beer. Is there anything better? (Hint: the answer is no).
Ever step into a place and know instantly that it's your restaurant soulmate? Yeah, that's kind of what you feel at Bonny's. The atmosphere is friendly, welcoming, and laid-back; the service is awesome; and the food? Let's just say, their menu is super varied, and full of delights even the most stringent meat-eater would salivate at. PS, they have tofu ricotta. I think my heart just skipped a beat.
6. Resto Vego
Okay, first of all, a vegetarian buffet? Yes. Sign me up. Resto Vego offers a wide variety of delicious vegetarian options for you to choose from, buffet-style, meaning that you can pile those vegetarian delicacies on your plate and feel next to no guilt about it. A little warning: even though their prices are super fair, they charge by weight - so pace yourself. Once you try one of their awesome dishes, you'll know why I said this. Everything's just too delicious.
7. Le Cagibi
Other than being pretty much one of the most awesome cafes you'll ever step foot into, Le Cagibi scores major points for having some of the most delicious vegetarian fare in the city. Add this in with their cool, friendly vibe and their super fair prices, and we've got a big, huge win on our hands. Bonus points for their veggie burger, which is just out of this world.

Straight up, you haven't lived until you've tried a veggie burrito at Burritoville. Seriously, I don't know if it's the high quality ingredients, the freshness, or the awesome recipes, but one bite of the tacos here had me convinced that chicken was just as unnecessary on a taco as ketchup. Oh, and one more thing: Burritoville is a co-op, with some seriously legit ethics towards food. So eat away, and feel zero guilt.
Alright, if you haven't been to Crudessence at this stage in the game - just drop what you're doing and go right now. Crudessence is pretty much the go-to spot for all things raw and veg, and honestly, one bite of their food tells you exactly why they earned their reputation. I know I say "food on point" a lot, but honestly? Food. On. Point.
10. La Lumerie Du Mile End
Alright, let me just get this out of the way now: the quesadilla at La Lumerie gives. Me. Life. Actually, all of La Lumerie gives me life: delicious, wholesome vegetarian food in an eclectic and laid-back setting? I'm totally there for that. Also, it's worth nothing that La Lumerie offers one of the best weekend brunches in the city. Vegetarians (and non-vegs, too), rejoice.
