Although it's true that the Montreal restaurant game is a difficult one to play, new restaurants still pop up in the city all the time. I think that's a beautiful thing; variety is the spice of life, and each restaurant tends to have something super unique and awesome about it.

Which also means there are an abundance of restaurants opened just in time for you to spend your October discovering some new awesome dishes and new awesome places. Confused as to where to begin your new restaurant adventure? No worries. That's what I'm here for.

1836 Rue Sainte-Catherine

This Ontario chain has put its foot in the door of Montreal's food market, and let me tell you, they're doing an awesome job. They focus on seafood, like lobster, shrimps, crab, and more, and mix everything together with an undeniably unique flavour.

1327 Avenue Laurier E

Authentic Italian pizza right in the heart of Montreal's Plateau, this pizzeria hasn't been open for super long - but it's already making a huge splash. Their food is fresh and tasty, and with authentic, simple, and flavourful offerings, you know there's no way you can do any wrong.

4. The Dumpling Hut

3591 Rue Clark

Honestly, I feel like I say it a lot, but whatever - I'll say it a million more times if I have to. Dumplings are my whole, entire life. If it were up to me, I'd just feast on dumplings every day, forever. Dumpling Hut, a brand new, small restaurant in the Plateau, serves up simple - and simply amazing - steaming hot dumplings. They're so good you won't want to stop eating them, either.

5. Halal Guys

1448 Rue Mackay

This famous chain comes straight from New York, and although it opened up a couple of months ago, its tasty offerings are the perfect October comfort foods. Their chicken and gyros combo dish features the best of both worlds: moist, flavorful, and lean meats piled high on top of rice and salad and slathered in their signature white and (spicy!) red sauces.

6. Banh Mi Queen

3723 Boul St-Laurent

Having opened up in early October, this super fun shop is right near Big In Japan, and is home to the world's tastiest sandwiches: banh mi. Featuring moist bread, yummy flavours, and all-around good vibes, this spot is one you totally have to visit this month.

8. Caifan

67 Rue Beaubien E

A taco spot and Mexican food restaurant in Montreal's Little Italy, Caifan slays the game at serving up authentic Mexican dishes (and seriously tasty drinks). Their tacos al pastor? To die past-for. (That was a lame pun, but trust, the food here is great).

9. Jumak

5335 Chemin Queen Mary

Korean food fans, rejoice. This spot is situated in NDG, has a seriously family-run, warm, and welcoming vibe, and some seriously legit food. Not only are the dishes tasty, and not only is the vibe super comfortable, but the prices happen to be incredibly fair, as well, making for a dining experience you won't soon forget.

10. Campo

1108 Boulevard de Maisonneuve O

Portuguese chicken, anyone? This downtown Montreal spot specializes in firing up one seriously mean Portuguese chicken, but their other dishes - like their ribs and chorizo - deserve some legit standing ovations, as well.
