Montreal's Most Authentic Greek Restaurants

Just like yiayia used to make.

Finding Greek food in Montreal is never difficult. As one of the longest standing immigrant groups in Montreal, the Greeks have made an incredible impact on Montreal's culinary landscape. Finding the most authentic Greek food, however, is a challenge around these parts.

Now, nothing will get more authentic than yiayia's home cooking. I remember when mine would make these incredible pastichios and mousakas with no equal. I still haven't found a Greek restaurant as good as yiayia's, but these Montreal restaurants would give her a run for her money.

@souvlaki_village_grecembedded via

As probably one of the most authentic souvlaki joints in Montreal, le Village Grec is to souvlaki what smoked meat is to Schwartz's. Huge portions and delectable gyro pitas are the name of the game at le Village Grec.

Elatos Souvlaki [550 Jarry W.]

@shulmanthesoulmanembedded via

If le Village Grec is the Schwartz's of souvlaki, then Elatos is the Main Deli. The old adage that tourists go to Village and locals go to Elatos is somewhat less true than their delicatessen cousins. Both tourists and locals absolutely love Elatos and their incredible gyro pitas. Where they also score points is with their subs and pizzas, which are decidedly less Greek, but are way too good to ignore.
