Seriously, I can't express to you guys how much I adore sushi. It's fresh, it's delicious, and seriously, it's like a whole experience for your mouth.
And it also happens to be the perfect food for lunch. Portable, tasty, and filling, there's really no way you can go wrong noshing on some sushi for lunch; and seeing as some spots offer great prices during lunchtime, you know that making a sushi lunch date a reality will be just as easy on the wallet as it is on your tastebuds.
1. Sushi Yu Mi
Alright, lunchtime sushi fiends, prepare to be seriously impressed. Not only is this NDG eatery known for its fresh and highkey scrumptious sushi offerings, but it also happens to have a lunchtime menu, meaning you and your lunchtime group can nosh on tasty sushi dishes for incredibly fair prices.
For under $20, you can experience any one of their yummy lunch offerings, such as their Express Sixteen - 16 pieces of fresh, mind-blowing sushi, for just $16.
2. Tri Express
If you're a fan of sushi in the city (as I, myself, am), then chances are very high that you know about Tri Express. Located in the Plateau, this spot is known for its fresh, tasty sushi rolls, sashimi, and other incredibly flavourful dishes (my personal fave has to be their lobster tartare, which is totally mind-blowing).
Their lunch menu is equally solid, including an option with miso soup and 12 pieces of sushi for under $20. So, sushi lovers, and lunch lovers, prepare to be utterly and totally thrilled.
A Korean restaurant/sushi spot located in downtown Montreal (and perfectly situated for students of McGill/Concordia, by the way), Opiano serves up some incredibly tasty fare.
Their most popular option is probably their lunchbox, which, for roughly $10, comes with sushi, soup, salad, tempura vegetables, and meat. However, they also have a straight-up sushi lunchtime special, consisting of about 15 pieces of sushi, plus salad and soup, for just under $15.
4. 5 Saisons Sushi
5 Saisons is seriously a life-changing sushi experience. Located in NDG, it's kind of known for having phenomenal food, and dishes that might just literally knock your socks right off, and although it's a little bit on the pricey side, they've got a lunchtime menu with incredibly fair pricing.
How fair, you ask? Well, let's just say that you can comfortably eat there for about $20, which will net you a whole bunch of items on their lunch menu - including their incredibly tasty Special 5 Saisons: a shrimp tempura, chicken teriyaki, sushi, and maki dish.
5. Royal Sushi
I think it's very safe to say that if you've made it this far, you're definitely a sushi lover. If that's the case (and I think it is), then you're going to turn into an actual heart eyes emoji when I tell you about this Plateau spot.
The sushi here are delicious, without a doubt, and if you go there for lunch, you'll be privy to some of the most awesome prices in the city, TBH. I mean, 20 pieces of tasty sushi for $15? Yes. I'm so, totally there for that.
Located in NDG, this spot specializes in a wide variety of Japanese fare. Although their Japanese dishes are super tasty, and featured more prominently on their lunch special menu, you seriously do have to try the sushis here.
For $10 at lunch, you get to choose pretty much whichever sushi roll you want, with a few exceptions. The meal comes with a soup and a salad, so not only can you go crazy trying literally a different sushi roll a day, but you can fill up, and do it for pretty inexpensive, as well.
7. Saint Sushi
We've spoken about Saint Sushi a couple of times before, and if you've ever been there, then you know exactly why this spot deserves all. The. Shoutouts.
Featuring incredibly fresh, savoury, and inspired sushi rolls, there's literally nothing on the menu at this Plateau sushi spot that'll be a bad choice. Everything here is fantastic, and if you're down to come here during lunch, then you'll get to taste some of their mouthwatering sushi rolls for a reduced price. Awesome? You know it.
An adorable spot in downtown Montreal, Sakura's got everything from authentic Japanese dishes (like deep fried whole blue crab), to incredibly tasty sushi.
And if you happen to get there for lunchtime, you and your lunch entourage (lunchtourage?) can enjoy Sakura's signature sushi pieces for super inexpensive prices. For example, you can get their Samurai special, with chicken yakitori, grilled scallops, sushi rolls, sashimi, soup, and a salad, all for $18.50.
